Children Of The Sod Looks to Defy the Odds in Silverbulletday Stakes

Silverbulletday Stakes [KYO]
 FG Race #9 1m 70 Dirt Stake
Purse $150.000 (plus up to $22.50 for LA-breds) For Fillies Three Years Old.

An early look at our fillies that are looking towards the KYO in this race, and it is a nice field topped off by a filly that is giving six pounds to most of the field and if she can pull it off, she could well go in my black book for the big race. Here is how they line up:

1 Barbara Big Jd Racing Lopez P 122 —

Won on debut in April but then had the statutory long break before she could race again. When she did, she was found wanting in the Sorrento Stakes but could be forgiven that effort after her four-month break. Her three efforts after that failure have all been good with two seconds in black type company rounding off her juvenile year. I think this is a nice filly who may not be the best of her generation but is one that will always give her best and that can be a huge asset in these big fields.

2 Radio Ruffian TwinTowersRacing Davis D 122 —

It is not unusual to see a horse from this yard tested at the highest level and this filly certainly had that after taking her maiden by an impressive six lengths. After a very close second in the Pocahontas she was made favorite for the grade one Frizette but ran inexplicably poorly in that race trailing in tenth. She recaptured her mojo in the Demoiselle when flying home for fourth last time out so it seems she may not be the most consistent type. Her best form here could well win, her worst sees her as a no show.

3 Reorganize Czech Out Farms Saez L 122 —

Lightly raced with just three starts but she has won two of them by open air so really could be anything coming into this race. Both those races were at the lower end of the class scale, but she won with so much authority you couldn’t say she isn’t up to this level. Her works suggest she may still have a little way to go, but she is clearly one with a future.

4 Shes So Basic Mb Stables Moore R L 122 —

She took a while to break her maiden but did so at SA and ran very well in her two efforts after that suggesting she may be pretty good. The trainer can be worth a length so that is a plus along with her good draw, and I really liked the way she finished off in the Untapable last time when only just failing by a nose. The jockey will know her better this time, so look for her late.

5 Flint Off Asgar Beschizza A 122 —

A consistent sort, she has been placed at this level in her last three starts, so is well in here for an attempt to break that cycle. The trip will suit but she may need to be off the pace to run her most effective race which can be difficult from this sort of draw. A top four contender for sure.

6 Won More Team 7 Illusions Cabrera D 122 —

The trainer has been putting together a new stable of very nice horses after a rebuilding period, and I feel this one may be one of their best. A very impressive winner at CD last time on her second start; what she lacks in experience she makes up for in raw ability. It may not be today but f it’s not it won’t be long before she wins a race like this.

7 Turquoise Tide D J C Racing Stables Silvera Ru 122 —

She is a little difficult to weigh up because she has had a few chances to win at this level after an impressive allowance win but she has been over a range of trips, so it is hard to focus in on her best chances. I have a feeling that she will stay further than this and on a dry track may be good enough to win, so bearing that in mind, her best run came on a fast track and in excess of a mile, she could be the surprise package.

8 Hershey Fractious Spencer J P 122 —

Very consistent until she finally won her maiden, she then ran fairly well in the Rags To Riches before a rather weak effort in the Golden Rod. Her works are on point so maybe that effort was just one of those HRP things and we will see her more competitive today, certainly the trainer is on form, so it wouldn’t be a surprise.

9 Judicial Watch TwinTowersRacing Gaffalione T 122 —

Hasn’t really run a bad race and was pretty good when running on into fourth last time in the Starlet. She likes to come from off the pace, so this draw may suit and if there is a strong pace through the first half of this race, we may see her flying home wide on the track. She is certainly in this with a real chance of things go her way in the race.

10 Skydancer Riggins Racing Husbands P 124 —

Comes here with a 2Lb penalty after a strong win in the Soviet Problem Stakes but looking at her last two wins and her work times she may be able to defy that impost. The two things that may stop her are rain and/or the wide draw, but I feel of the two, rain will be the biggest threat to her.

11 Children Of The Sod Onlineracingclub.com Velazquez J R 128 —

If this filly wins this from a wide draw and with 128Lbs, she is going to be very high on everyone’s list for the KYO. It would be a huge effort but even with the two biggest factors at HRP against her she may still be good enough. Second in the grade one Alcibiades she then ran a solid race in the BC Juvenile Fillies before winning the grade three Durante last time. I like her a lot and hope she runs well.

12 Jamaican Coffee Night Rider Stables Geroux F 122 —

The car park goes to this one, but her work times and form suggests she can overcome it if things work out for her. I think she will have to go forward and hope that she can slot in to have her best chance as she doesn’t have a lightening fast finish, but her recent works are suggesting she is improving all the time and at 15.2hh she may still have some improvement in her.

SUMMARY

Wow, this is a tough race to call with arguably the best horse carrying 128Lbs from a wide draw. Children Of The Sod may well be the best filly in this race, but she will have to be a super filly to win. With that in mind, my first choice goes to Won More which may not have the form of some of these but certainly has the potential.
