La Prevoyante Handicap – Grade III
1 1/2 Mile Inner Turf Stake Purse $150.000 Filly & Mare 4 Year Olds And Up.
1st Lady Hilltopper Black N Gold Stable Gutierrez Mario
I have a feeling that at age five this mare will be having her best season yet and she certainly started it in style here with an easy win. Running her usual race, she settled just off the pace and when she was asked, moved up readily and cantered home without the jockey having to use the whip. The draw is key for her season although I do feel like this sort of performance will see her in the top of her division going through the year.

It is always hard to come from too far back on this engine especially against a fairly even pace so this was a very good run from the mare who like the winner will be having a good season as she reaches that magical maturity age of five. Her racing style will always be a hindrance but the wide draw and trailing the field gave her very few options and she certainly made the most of it with a spirited finish.

As Afar was chosen to go back by the engine so this mare, yes, another five-year-old, got the speed push and went to a narrow lead. Though she was stuck wide she didn’t push too hard and was still going well enough on the home bend. In the end though it was all too much as the closers came and she just whacked away for third. She is definitely an improving mare though and helped the stable have a great day as they took out the big race of the day later on.
4th Drunk Pinata Keikowin Racing Gaffalione T
Looked to be holding a good position but as they turned for home, she didn’t run on like she had done previously over this sort of trip. She may have needed the run as she has been off the track since November, so she may be worth another chance at this sort of level.
