The Endeavour BC – Grade III
1 1/16 Mile Turf Stake Purse $175.000 Filly & Mare 4 Year Olds And Up.

I had a feeling that this horse was a late developer, or at least finding her feet as she got older, and she made winning her fourth race in a row look very easy today. Settling back off a decent pace she made good late ground and strode clear for a two-length win. The winning time was actually slower than her ungraded stakes and Allowance wins previously so now we know she can run faster we also know that the class gene is fully developed, so I will be watching her progress through the year very carefully. A daughter of Commanding her value will continue past her racing career, but I have a feeling that we will see plenty more of her on the track.

Though she has now run two good races on the grass I am not sure she is any better than she is on the dirt, so she remains the type that will continue to race honestly on either surface. I think she may be just below the best at this level but she has 13 wins and $666.000 in prize money so she continues to show that she will always be a threat. Today she whacked away for second but was well beaten by the winner so whilst she will win more races for sure, it may be the strength of the opposition that will be the trainer’s main concern.
3rd Poetic Panther Maletto Martinez W
Used the wide gate speed push to make the front but her stamina was always going to be tested under those conditions and in the end, she weakened into third. A good enough effort and as only a four-year-old there will be plenty of time to win races like this.

Her effort to lead was trumped by the wide gate speed push so from the stalk she was always vulnerable. This was only her eighth race so there is plenty more to come from this daughter of Commanding.
