Spb Racing Lives Happily Ever After with Santa Ana Win

2/24/24

6  SA   Santa Ana Stakes (GIII)

$100.000   4yo&Up F&M   1 1/4m Turf    123lbs + penalties

The next person that says you can’t close from a trailing position should be ashamed of themselves…  Upon A Time, my top selection, owned by Spb Racing, looked dull early in Saturday’s Santa Ana Stakes (GIII)… but the don’t hand out checks at the quarter pole.  She closed from the far outside, getting up in the final 150-yards and taking this mile and a quarter turf stakes by a length, stopping the clock at 1:58.92.  Raw And Real was forwardly placed throughout this marathon, had the lead in the lane, but it was almost like she didn’t see the winner coming, but ran a huge race to be second.  It was a quarter length to Tessas Star in third, then another quarter length to Lousiana Woo taking the minor money.  Twelve lengths covered the field of eleven.
