The Kentucky Oaks is starting to take shape. The two-year-old filly has grown into an outstanding three-year-old. The participants with these prestigious thoroughbreds have looked closely at the preps to qualify these talented racehorses. We are halfway through the qualification process. The prestige behind a Kentucky Oaks starter is an accomplishment. The filly that crosses the line in front is priceless.
The media and the fans have watched closely at the stakes that have brought us to the halfway point. The preps are starting to let us all know who is jockeying for the position.
As there have been twenty KYO Stakes races run, the questions are starting to become apparent. The starting gate may only hold twenty, but they will be the best in the country.
The KYO preps have ten remaining stakes on the schedule. Nine of those ten stake races will be of the highest value. Those preps will earn the right to walk in the paddock on the first Friday in May as one of the favorites.
Can MB Stables Let Me Explain keep pushing for greatness? She is called the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Champion. After a defeat in her last race, she had an enormous victory in the Honey Bee Stakes. She tallied her points to sixty to tie for the top spot that let everybody take notice. This champion is back in the division.
Hopes run high with Royalty Stables. The Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies Champion Agapova scored big in the Alexander at the Fairgrounds. She also tops all fillies with sixty points.
At the present moment, with two of the already champions, one versus the other, there is a flip side to this coin. Will there be a new champion on the horizon? A long shot charging down the stretch where perhaps you can’t hear a pin drop in the Kentucky grandstand. The only noise you will hear is the team of well-deserved horsemen. Only time will tell. That’s what makes the Sport of Kings magical.
