There was some rain that fell at WO for the days card, and it would leave the track only listed as good for the running of the Star Shoots. That would not be a problem for Hawaiian Blaze, who jumped out to the lead and became another wire-to-wire winner on the day. This filly is trained by Fractious, and it’s the first win in the stake for the trainer. Jockey J Stein is also a first-time winner. Congratulations to them! The time of the win was 1:10.70, let’s take a look at it:
(1/4 Mile- :22.69)- It’s Hawaiian Blaze, our eventual winner from Fractious, jumping out to the lead right from the gate, and she will open up by a length over Big Jd Racing’s Barbara. A length behind her, the winner’s stablemate, Complicated Crazy runs side by side Sound Bath (Sheffler Stables), and behind them Queen Sizzler (Aer Stables) and Dressed In Pink (Mb Stables) also run together.
(½ Mile- :46.19, Top of Stretch, 1.6F To Go)- Rounding the turn only serves to extend the lead of Hawaiian Blaze, as her advantage on Barbara is now two lengths. At this point, Fractious had to be very happy and almost ready to celebrate the win. Complicated Crazy and Sound Bath still ran together, as did Queen Sizzler and Dressed In Pink.
(Finish- 1:10.70)- It was looking like a rout early in the stretch as Hawaiian Blaze was in cruise control, but massive longshot Queen Sizzler hit her best stride late to take second and was only a length out of the win. However, Hawaiian Blaze was never worried about her. It’s another length to Dressed In Pink, who beats Barbara, Complicated Crazy, and Sound Bath.
About The Winner- Hawaiian Blaze, trained by Fractious and ridden to victory by J Stein, is a three-year-old filly by Cross Of Lorraine and is out of Hawaiian Crusader. She was bred as a third quarter two-year-old by Fractious in Florida and they have been together throughout. Congratulations to the connections! The win is her second in eight starts and her first stake win. Her career earnings are now $179.970.
