Santa Margarita – Grade II
1 1/8 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $200.000 Filly & Mare 3 Year Olds And Up.
1st Ignore Tucker Fractious Smith M E
Everything went right for this one today as the sprinter found herself in the lead which meant that the closers could sit and wait for her stamina to give out. The chances were that things would heat up late in the race and we know on her day she can finish well so it was just a matter of AI timing. Whilst that isn’t the most reliable thing, in this race at least it worked perfectly as she made steady ground from the halfway mark and ran out a one length winner. Once again, she promises the world and I hope that this time she goes on with it and runs up a sequence.
2nd Pink Attack The Sidley Stud Moore R L
She was always going to out stay Oceanus but in putting that pressure on she opened herself up to be vulnerable late and sure enough, for once, the AI on the winner got the timing right. She certainly seems to be holding her form at age seven, but she may not be the mare she was when running so well in the Distaff last year. Having said that she will continue to be a force in races like this.
3rd Texas Holdem D J C Racing Stables Van Dyke D
Well, we knew she would come late but as has been the case so many times before she left it too late and had to settle for third. This was another good effort, and her winning turn will come again but her racing style continues to inhibit her winning chances.
4th Majestic Chai TwinTowersRacing Gutierrez Mario
On her recent efforts over this trip, I think we can say she doesn’t stay this trip at this level. She held a good position but when the pressure came on, she was paddling and could not find more.
