Sweep The Ledge Inside Speed In Victoria Stakes

July 16, 2016

Two-year-old colts and geldings take to the WO main track Sunday for the annual Victoria Stakes and to join the likes of Bozo Speed, Noble Warrior and Forever Steel as winners of this important juvenile contest, they will have to be fast from the gate and hold off the closers as they continue to stretch out to bigger and longer events down the line.

1-Sweep The Ledge (Two-year-old black colt / Owner-Spongebob)

A maiden win at PRX and a huge allowance win at the tough CD meeting make Sweep The Ledge the logical choice from the inside, with the best speed ratings in the field and the ability to sit just off the early pace and rocket home late.

Fair Odds-2/1

2-The Force Awakens (Two-year-old bay colt / Owner-Diablo Diablo)

The Force Awakens just missed in his debut going two-furlongs but graduated in his second start with an 87-rating but both of his efforts have come over off-tracks and he needs to prove his might over a fast surface before getting a top three nod.

Fair Odds-8/1

3-Hogmanay (Two-year-old bay gelding / Owner-Rheingold Stables)

Gelded off a maiden claiming win at LAD, Hogmanay faces a huge jump in class after actually regressing in speed ratings and will be one of the longshots against much more speedy individuals.

Fair Odds-25/1

4-Leftie (Two-year-old bay colt / Owner-Asgar)

Leftie got saddled with the outside stall in the Tremont at BEL and raced in midpack throughout; while this might be a better post position, the field will also be tougher and he will need to show more late in order to hit the top four.

Fair Odds-12/1

5-Final Delivery (Two-year-old chestnut colt / Owner-Mb Stables)

Adding Lasix, Bute and a shadow roll helped Final Delivery close from last in a maiden win at MTH and the distance should be no problem for this son of BC Juvenile winner Greek God, especially with his closing ability.

Fair Odds-4/1

6-Wolfs Shadow (Two-year-old bay colt / Owner-Wolfs Den)

Wolfs Shadow has already raced five times this year and only has a single win to his credit, making him a seasoned entrant but one who will have to get tired at some point and has yet to show that breakout effort over the track.

Fair Odds-20/1

7-Spartacus (Two-year-old bay colt / Owner-Team 7 Illusions)

Spartacus is a full brother to stakes winners Supervolt and Ferro and despite being a maiden, has enough talent to at least hold his own against this level with experience over the course as an asset to fall back upon.

Fair Odds-10/1

8-Everything Zen (Two-year-old bay colt / Owner-Barcelona Farms)

Maiden claiming winner Everything Zen races for a new barn and has improved with every start but gets one of the outside posts and might be caught wide around the turn if he decided to go up and contest for the early lead.

Fair Odds-8/1

9-Rapid Growth (Two-year-old bay colt / Owner-5 A Racing)

Rapid Growth showed rapid improvement in his second career start at GG but ships clear across the country for a start at WO and will be up close to the pace early, even with an outside gate as a huge disadvantage

Fair Odds-12/1

Prediction

Win-Sweep The Ledge (2/1)

Place-Final Delivery (4/1)

Show-Everything Zen (8/1)

Triple T Racing 🙂
