Edwin Drood comes back from his holiday and takes the IND Derby

The IND Derby – Grade II
1 1/16 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $500.00 Open 3 Year Olds.

1st Edwin Drood, trained by Sanny Village
Taken to the trail in a very confident ride this admirable sort
stormed through late for a very impressive half length win. Coming
off a long break he is entitled to improve from this and if he does
the rest of his generation better watch out.

2nd Spring Lover, trained by Mb Stables
Was put right up on the pace and stayed there throughout battling
gamely until the last challenger came. This was a super run but he
couldnt confirm his easy victory over Edwin Drood in the BG Stakes
and today had to settle for second.

3rd Dial It In, trained by Bigking
When you buy a horse from a stable you can bet that you wont be
beating them in a head to head. Suer enough the ex Mb Stables runner
could not beat his old stable mate but ran a dogged race and very nearly did.
After a big move it looked like he was going to win but ran out of finish
mid way down the stretch and had to settle for third.

4th Red Leaf, trained by Our Athletes
Stormed home late after getting into traffic from the one box this was
a nice effort and he really wouldnt have to improve that much to get a
win at this level.

SUMMARY
I thought this would be between these four horses and their respective
draws and it was indeed with the wide gates coming out on top today.
The two hard luck stories in the race were Red Leaf and Tiger Town who
both got held up several times but the first two had it pretty tough too
so i dont think they would have beaten them.
