Looked happier back on turf as he saw out this trip nicely to win by a half-length. This was another classic HRP copy and paste race with the wide gate taking the lead the loose stalker getting past them and then the late charger coming too late. It was the AI that won this race with a perfectly timed ride but this five-year-old is a willing partner at this level and gave his all to the line.

Got too far back and flew home for second, a pattern of racing that has had very similar results for this horse. There is no doubt a “type” of running style is favored on this race engine and unfortunately this one runs its best races as a deep closer which isn’t it. Another good effort though, and one feels that one day there will be an AI that gets the timing right and he can break his 24-race losing streak.

As the wide gate he was obliged to make the running and in that role nine times out of ten it results in wobbly legs for the last furlong and one or more catching them, In the end, I feel he placed pretty much where he mapped whatever the tactics and whilst it all looks very pretty, I think the finishing position is very often more relevant than how they got there.

I would expect after some sublime dirt works; we will see this one back on that surface after a pretty one paced effort on the turf today. I would suspect a mile dirt handicap would see him with the biggest advantage, and I will be throwing some Disney Dollars his way if he gets in a race like that.
