Purse $250.000 For Three Year Olds.
1 Petranella Man D J C Racing Stables Velazquez J R 122 —
Gets a small field which may or may not suit his closing style especially if it turns into a tactical race. His best form has been on an off track so his best chance may come with rain, but he wasn’t bad in the Snow Chief to suggest he is not out of it if it stays dry.
2 Feared Team 7 Illusions Garcia Mar 122 —
You don’t win a big-ticket allowance at CD in 1.32 and 1 for the mile in your third race without being very, very good. This is his biggest test, but his two wins have been very good, and he really could be a star in the making, whether that starts today we will have to wait and see.
3 Back Class TwinTowersRacing Geroux F 122 —
Ran very well to be third in the Pennine Ridge last time and has improved nicely through his last two starts giving him every chance here.
4 Master Manipulator Mb Stables Franco M 122 —
Interestingly though this horse has a very good turf record, he has been kept to the dirt and persevered with at low tracks such as TAM and GG. That all changed when taking on turf for the second time in his career last time when he ran through from a wide draw to gain a nice win in a PRX Allowance, Not the brightest light in the stable but he is tested here today to see just how much better he can do on the grass.
5 Central Hawkes Bay Mojica Racing Ortiz J L 122 —
Another promising and lightly raced sort. In true HRP style he went from a $10.000 maiden claiming win at TAM to an Allowance winner at CD after finding a claim in that TAM race and comes here the winner of two from four. It is hard to line up that form, so this race will tell us so much more about what level his future lies.
SUMMARY
In truth this is a disappointing field, but it does have a couple of highly promising and lightly raced three-year-olds that may use this race as a launch pad to better things.
We have three that are well campaigned and solid stakes types and two that are full of potential so it is an interesting split which could go either way. I rather like Feared for this, but I wouldn’t mind a small bet on Back Class if his odds look attractive.
