We bounce back a little bit in The Tepin, as at least I picked the winner on top…  Maxmillion Farm’s Decimas Queen, sent off as the 5/2 second favorite, does in fact bounce back from her less-than-thrilling finish in the KY Oaks (GI) to take this one by a length, getting the flat mile in 1:33.22 over the firm CD Turf.   This is her second stakes win of the season, also scoring in the SA Oaks (GII), back in April.  Baby State, from the Smokey Stover outfit, proved she is a horse to watch, as she was second here in only her fifth trip to the starting gate.  She was a half-length better than the Mo Mentum Farm stablemates, running third and fourth, as Barossa Valley was a half-length back in the show spot, and another quarter length to Lakota Wind taking the minor purse money.  Only four lengths covered the field of six.
