Rearranger Strolls to a Derby Double

SAR Derby – Grade I
1 3/16 Mile Turf Stake Purse $600.000 Open 3 Year Olds.

1st Rearranger Mb Stables Franco M

I watched Let Me Explain do the BEL and SAR Oaks double in almost identical fashion as this rejuvenated horse won the SAR, BEL Derby double in basically the same final race time just as his stable mate had. There was a difference, however, in that this horse had taken a sit behind the speed when the BEL Derby was taken through the six furlong point in 1.10 and 1 whereas this time with no one taking the early pace on, it was Rearranger who coasted along at just an average pace. That was pretty much the end of the race as he was left alone in front with a clear unchallenged lead running splits that were well within his comfort range. In the end it was a facile win by three easy lengths, and it looks as if this horse has really found his niche.

2nd Way Of The Dragon Fractious Velazquez J R

Stalked the winner, but made no effort to put any pressure on and could never make any in roads to the lead when it mattered. The BEL Derby form played out perfectly and whilst this one never had any chance at beating Rearranger he has now picked up decent checks in both Derbys and is certainly earning his keep.

3rd= Prince Of Africa Mb Stables Prat F

Coming from FP in a $2.000 allowance and having his first race on turf, this was a remarkable effort even if he never got near the first two. The steady pace was never going to suit a closer in this race and whilst he made ground to run a share of third, he never looked like getting there. Twice this horse could’ve been claimed for less than $5.000 in his short career, but it was inevitably Mb Stables that went to $50.000 to secure this very promising turf runner. I will be following this one next time and with a stronger early pace, I reckon he could well turn out to be an unlikely superstar.

3rd= Petranella Man D J C Racing Stables Geroux F

Went all the way back to the trail and needed a much stronger pace to have any chance at all. That didn’t happen and he did very well to grab a share of third in the end. Another improving type who will get a black type win before long.
