1st Wasted Away Mb Stables Velazquez J R
The only mystery about this race was why the odds monkeys allowed this one to go as second favorite for a race she looked to have at her mercy. The slow early pace allowed her to sit comfortably in the stalk and she rather easily swept past in the straight and sauntered home by two very easy lengths. Mb Stable looks to have a stranglehold on the BC fillies and mares this year with this one heading for the Distaff as a likely favorite and the stable mate going for the turf with equal standing. Though the $1,250.000 that the stable purchased this one for is beyond the pocket of most Mb knows what they want and is not afraid to go and get it and I think by November Wasted Away will have paid back that price tag with interest.
2nd Hobo Blues Alydar Stables Bridgmohan S X
The trainer knew what they had to do to beat Wasted Away in this race but though this filly is a very good sort she was completely outclassed today. Like the winner she was bought by the owner for a fair price of $300.000 and like Mb Alydar is a great judge of horse flesh and has been repaid that purchase price. She should go to the Distaff and whilst beating the winner may be out of the question, she could be picking up a nice check for second spot after this performance.
3rd Wrong Farm Winning Link Stables Gaffalione T
I would still love to hear the story of her name, but regardless of that she ran through nicely for third albeit well beaten by the first two. This was a strong race and may well have seen the Distaff winner so third was a great result for a filly that has only won one race in her career.
4th Be Yourself Mb Stables Franco M
Taken back off just an average pace she struggled to make ground but held down fourth in the end. Not a bad run but she was beaten fair and square and whilst there is some hope that a stronger pace in future will allow her to use her potent finish it is clear she is not in the same class as her stable mate.
