Asgar may have entered three into the NM Thoroughbred Futurity, but Jive Inc is one of those trainers that have become known for successfully breeding great horses in NM. He will hope that Roman Hound is one of the next great ones to be added to that list following this victory. The potential is certainly there for Roman Hound, as coming into this race, he had run second in the Rio Grande Senor Futurity, so we will see going forward what the future has in store for this one. This was our pick to win, and he did go off as a healthy post-time favorite, so not many people were surprised by this result. For Jive Inc., it is his second win in the race, having previously won in 2021 with Roswell Flash. Aboard the winner was A J Juarez Jr, which is also his second win. Congratulations to them! The time of the win was 1:09.27, which is a new stake record. Let’s take a look at it now:

(1/4 Mile- :22.68)- Our eventual winner, Roman Hound, jumps right out to the lead for Jive Inc, and he is clear by a length over the second place Fly Robin Fly, from Panionios Racing. Asgar’s horses are third through fifth at this point, with Amazing Nation is a length behind Fly Robin Fly, and behind them by a length, Eat Out To Help Out and Amazing Thrill run together.

(½ Mile- :45.77, Top of Stretch, 1.8F To Go)- Roman Hound is looking good out in front of the field, and he has gone wire to wire in the past. So, now, as he enters the top of the stretch leading by a length and a half, Jive Inc surely liked what he saw. Fly Robin Fly needed to fly at this point but seemed to be coming up empty. He’s still second, as we wait to see which of the Asgar horses makes a move. Amazing Nation was third, but Amazing Thrill was making an outside move entering the stretch. Eat Out To Help Out looked left out.

(Finish- 1:09.27)- This race belongs to Roman Hound, as he only continues to extend his lead early in the stretch. Fly Robin Fly had nothing for him, and none of the others were coming quickly enough. The final margin of victory will be a length and a half, as Amazing Thrill got closer but never was a concern to the winner. Fly Robin Fly hangs on for third, over Amazing Nation and Eat Out To Help Out.

About The Winner- Roman Hound, trained by Jive Inc, and ridden to victory by A J Juarez Jr, is a two-year-old gelding by Heffalump Hanny and is out of Roman Miles. He was bred in New Mexico by Jive Inc as a first quarter two-year-old, and they have been together throughout. Congratulations to the connections! The win is his second in four starts and first stake win. His career earnings are now $136.000.
