1 Ruths House TwinTowersRacing Davis D 120 —
This one was within a length of going to the BC, so this race looks perfect for her to gain some compensation. Making the running from a wide gate in the Natalma she kept on gamely to end up fourth beaten three quarters of a length. She had won previously over the mile at PRX, again on the speed and from a wide draw so it makes perfect sense that with an inside draw and the prospect of a much less harrowing trip she should win today.
2 Icing On The Cake Mb Stables Franco M 120 —
Won her maiden at SAR very well so it was surprising to see her run so poorly in the KD Juvenile where she started a strong favorite, she won’t be far from the leaders with this handy draw, but she will need to improve on that last effort.
3 Neat D J C Racing Stables Silvera Ru 120 —
Hasn’t really run a bad race despite taking five attempts to break her maiden, she finally got the win in competitive maiden claimer at SAR and looked happier over a longer trip where her stamina came into play in the closing stages. She should be pretty competitive and a top three finish is on the cards.
4 The Lady Of Sod Nakamura Stables Lezcano J 120 —
Here is a filly looking to make it four wins in row and that’s pretty good for this time of year. Standing at only 15.1hh, the same height she was on debut in April she hasn’t grown much which suggests she is the sort of early type that can run up sequences as a juvenile. She has won all of her races pretty handily and really could be a filly flying under the radar as she faces stakes company for the first time. Working as well if not faster than most BC entries if there is a danger to Ruths House then it is definitely her.
5 Wanna Con Big Guns Stables Prat F 120 —
Still a maiden but a handy one and is not out of it in the fight for a place. I think this trip will suit her and her recent dirt work was pretty good, so I expect some improvement on her fourth at maiden level last time.
6 Merlene Ottey Night Rider Stables Castellano J J 120 —
Well, if she can run as fast as her namesake then this race will be over when they leave the gates. A winner on debut in May at LAD she is a bit of a dark horse with just the one run and no turf form. We have one turf work to go on which was a breeze on this track which wasn’t bad, but she could win or run last and we won’t know which until a minute or two after start time.
SUMMARY
An interesting little race but one on form at least that looks at the mercy of Ruths House. She certainly ran well enough in the Natalma to suggest she is a stakes quality horse but then there is Lady Of The Sod whose works are far superior, and she has won three in a row. Take your pick, works and potential or proven form but I think one of those two will win.
