The DMR turf course is the venue, and this is another humdinger of a race.  The BC Mile (GI) looks to be a handicapper’s dream… so many choices, so many angles, so hard to nail anything down here.  I think that is the overall theme of this year’s races… is anything a lock?

With all of that being said, I’m going off-script right from the get-go and will take an AE horse as my top choice.  If he draws in, and it’s an absolute shame that he isn’t in here already, Winned looks to be as tough as any horse at the mile distance, right about now.  He was going well on the TC Trail before running last in the KYD (GI), so they moved him to the grass and kaboom… what a horse.  Two big wins and a near miss second.  I know, he’s a 3yo, COZ, and you never do this… that proves how much I like him… if.

Back to our regularly schedule programming, until they beat him, Atomic Eclipse is the champion… or at least the defending champion.  He won this race last year and will need his very best to do it again.  It’s a matter of if we get the horse that ran through most of the ’24 season or the one that beat one horse in the Shadwell (GI).  We find out today.

Giannis is a horse that has been on his toes all season and cannot be ignored in this one.  Only off the board that one race, and that was a bit longer than he likes… this mile is his cup of tea, and he could be drinking it all, if he gives his best.

That Shadwell Turf (GI) from KEE is always a key race, and Chagrin Falls took that, so let’s put him in the third spot.  They moved him back to the grass and he found his old form, running second in the KY Turf Cup (GII) at KD, then the win at KEE.  Hard to fault a horse with that kind of form.

Congratulations and Best of Luck to everyone involved.
