When the Lady is right… she’s hard to get past. Lady Sammyantha goes back-to-back taking the BC F&M Sprint (GI) handing The Sidley Stud makes it four races in a row with the big mare, and I think you can hand her the Sprinter Female Trophy again, as well. The margin of victory was a length, and she stopped the clock at 1:21.36 for the seven furlongs.
Fractious’ 3yo Racing Tipster set the pace but could walk away with her head held high as she took the second spot at 20/1 odds. She set the pace through much of this one and that performance certainly turned some heads… she is a horse to be reckoned with. It wouldn’t be a complete weekend without a dead-heat or 20, and Martyparty’s Penal Partido Rene and Night Mare Racing’s Lady Lara gave us just that. It was a very close race with the fourteen ladies finishing within five lengths covering the field.
Away from the gate in the 2024 BC F&M Sprint and don’t blink folks… this won’t take long… Racing Tipster on the early gas from the outside, Penal Partido Rene just to her inside and Altered State just inside of that one. Down to the rail for Devils Bride, Lady Sammyantha and Grandest Lady, then back towards the outside Shadow State, Silly Relleno just to her inside, Adrift At Sea, a length to Nazca Line, to the far outside Devil In High Heels, the Lady Lara, Smokin Cara and Yeah Noha was the early trailer.
Making their way down the backside, four furlongs to run and Racing Tipster with a three-length lead. Altered State giving chase to the leader, Shadow State and Penal Partido Rene from the outside, Silly Relleno, then down to the rail for Devils Bride. Another length to Lady Sammyantha, a gap to Grandest Lady, Adrift At Sea to her outside, then Nazca Lines, Smokin Cara, Lady Lara, Devil In High Heels and Yeah Noha still the back marker.
Around the turn and to the top of the lane, three-sixteenths of a mile to run and racing Tipster was making this look easy, the lead still three lengths, but the group giving chase was getting bigger, five across… Altered State, Penal Partido Rene, Lady Sammyantha moving fast, and Silly Relleno, another length to the rail and Devils Bride, then another gap to Shadow State, Adrift At Sea, Grandest Lady, Nazca Lines, Lady Lara, Smokin Cara, Devil In High Heals and Yeah Noha.
Down the stretch and thru the final sixteenth to the finish… with the money on the line, champions know it, smell it, thrive for the moment… and here comes Lady Sammyantha to join Racing Tipster… Penal Partido Rene making a late gain, Lady Lara to the outside and a wall of four just in behind… Nazca Lines, Altered State losing some ground, Devils Bride and Silly Relleno… but cream rises to the top and as they were in the shadow of the wire, Lady Sammyantha’s class was too much to hold down, and she pulled away to win by a length. Racing Tipster was very impressive in the runner-up spot, that one nosing out a dead-heat for third between Penal Partido Rene and the fast-closing Lady Lara. It was another neck to Nazca Lines in fifth, Smokin Cara sixth, Devils Bride seventh, Silly Relleno eighth, another dead-heat for ninth between Altered State and Yeah Noha, Devil In High Heels eleventh, Adrift At Sea twelfth, Shadow State thirteenth and Grandest Lady close this one out.
Lady Sammyantha was bred by her owner, The Sidley Stud, in ON and is a 6yo b m by Ginger Haggis out of Madame Broulard, by Condotteri. This was her sixteenth win from forty-five starts, five of those wins coming this year and as mentioned, back-to-back wins in the BC F&M Sprint (GI).
