1 New Albany Our Athletes Geroux F 124 —

This consistent and fairly prolific four-year-old is well placed here from the inside gate and will be looking to hold the rail throughout this race. An on-pace type so well suited by this race engine she is likely to lead or stalk and has plenty of success in that role. A good winner at AQU last time she raced on the turf in the KD Turf Sprint before that running well to be fifth but does look a little better on the dirt. She led up the Desert Stormer over this trip and from this draw and only just failed to hold on so she will be looking to go one better today. Working strongly, she has every chance of a win.

2 Dauzacs Girl TwinTowersRacing Davis D 124 —

As you would expect from a runner from this yard she has been racing over all trips and both surfaces with similar success, so it is fairly difficult to weigh up her chances. She is well drawn and is working well over this trip, and it is one she hasn’t been over for a long time running fifth in an optional claimer in 2023. She could win or finish last; your guess is as good as mine.

3 My Pretty Threshold Silvera Ru 124 —

Took a claimer easily before being upped in grade to the Bloom Handicap last time where she led all the way to win off bottom weight. A decent sort she will have to up her game again today but has every chance of doing so.

4 Dream Chaser Fractious Franco M 122 —

A lightly raced three-year-old, she gets a couple of pounds which brings her into the reckoning. An on-speed type she will need to get away from this gate, but if she does, she has shown enough at this level to be a real factor. In her last two she has placed in both the CT Oaks and Dogwood but has probably been more effective over slightly shorter as she showed when taking the Hendrie and I feel these six furlongs may be her best trip.

5 Sinisoul Alydar Stables Conner T 122 —

Another three-year-old, she has run well on both surfaces but comes back to dirt today after three races on the turf. She won the last of them in the Glen Cove but had won at the same level on dirt, so it seems she is as effective on both surfaces. The draw is tough, but I think she will sit just behind the speed so may not be too much of a problem as long as the AI doesn’t take her too far back.

6 Upstream La Canada Racehorses Bridgmohan S X 122 —

Won the Jersey Girl very nicely over this trip and then ran a fair sixth in the grade one Test before being sold at auction. In her first race for the new owner, she ran very well to be third in the River Run and should be suited coming back to the six furlongs today. This is her first go at the older fillies and mares, but she has built a nice record against her own age group and would have to have a decent chance if she doesn’t work too hard from the wide gate.

SUMMARY

A close race to call it looks like My Pretty may be the one to beat but all five of her rivals have chances and any one of them could win. New Albany and Dream Chaser look the main dangers and probably boxing those three up in an exotic bet is the way to go.
