The Sidley Stud was not done after enjoying his win with Blue Blood in the CC Rapid Transit in the prior race, or his win with Whoop Whoop before that in the CC Glass Slipper. He would make it three in a row in the CC Tiara, as Hashtag Selfie hung on in the stretch to get this victory. It’s the first win in this race for the trainer, and also for the jockey, Mar Garcia. Congratulations to them! The winning race time was 1:39.81, considerably faster than the 2022 edition of the race which was only run on good turf. Let’s take a look at this one now:

(1/4 Mile- :23.56)- Zak Snack will be the early leader, but the Team 7 Illusions filly has company on the front as end, as the race’s eventual winner, Hashtag Selfie, runs right beside her for The Sidley Stud. There’s a group of four right behind them, and the horse on the outside, Mb Stables’ Raised Her Right, has a slight edge on the others. Running with her are Spoon Flip (D J C Racing Stables), Hype (Mb Stables), and Feral Mystic (Asgar). A length or so behind them are Yesterdays Blank (Blazin D) and Lots Of Punch Lines (Alydar Stables), and trailing is Right Twizt (Asgar).

(½ Mile- :47.07)- Hashtag Selfie takes the lead at the top of the backstretch and pulls about a full length in front of Zak Snack after a half mile. Spoon Flip is third on the rail, with Hype right beside him and Raised Her Right within half a length. Feral Mystic loses a little ground to them but remains ahead of Yesterdays Blank and Lots Of Punch Lines. Right Twizt is way back at this point.

(Top of Stretch, 1.8F To Go)- Hashtag Selfie handles the turn exceptionally well and has pulled out to an uncontested two length advantage as Zak Snack drops back. Spoon Flip and Hype are now second and third and hoping to make up ground in the stretch. Raised Her Right and Feral Mystic, who had been running with them, have not been able to keep up and now find themselves about to be passed by Yesterdays Blank. Meanwhile, Lots Of Punch Lines was lacking response and Right Twizt was at least getting closer.

(Finish- 1:39.81)- The big lead that Hashtag Selfie had built up on the field entering the stretch would prove to be insurmountable to her competition. She would run well enough to the wire to never really feel threatened by Spoon Flip even though that one did get within a length. A late bid by Right Twizt gets her third at the wire narrowly over Hype and Yesterdays Blank. The rest of the running order will read Feral Mystic, Lots Of Punch Lines, Raised Her Right and Zak Snack.

About The Winner- Hashtag Selfie, trained by The Sidley Stud and ridden to victory by Mar Garcia, is a four-year-old filly by Fire N Fury and is out of the late Change Perception. She was bred in Ontario by Mb Stables as a third quarter two-year-old, and was acquired by The Sidley Stud, via Luz International, with a $15.000 claim in May. Incidentally, he claimed Hashtag Selfie just two days after claiming his CC Rapid Transit winner, Blue Blood. The win is Hashtag Selfie’s fourth in nine starts and first stake win. Her career earnings are now $138.920.
