Mrs Revere Sees Several Red-Hot Fillies Taking Part

Mrs Revere (Grade 2)- $300.000 Purse
CD- For Fillies Three Years Old
One Mile and One Sixteenth on the Turf
November 29, 2024

The card at CD on Friday has a little something for three-year-old turf fillies, as the 21st running of the Mrs Revere takes place. The conditions for this race have been constant over the years, with the price seeing a gradual increase to the present level. There will be a field of eight taking part in the race, one that was won last year by Blind Appeal, for Nakamura Stables. That filly would race into the fall this year but has since been retired. Our field this year looks very balanced, so it should be a strong race and who knows, maybe we’ll get a dead heat out of it! Let’s meet the field:

1- Secret Of A Lady (Mb Stables, ridden by W T Buick)- In May, Night Rider Stables claimed this filly for $32.000, and at the time Secret Of A Lady was doing decently but seemed to need a little more. He would administer Lasix, and since then she is 3-for-3. Two of those wins have come with Mb Stables, who bought her in the September auction for $50.000. Last month, she won her graded debut in the Grade 2 Valley View at KEE, so clearly, she is a horse that is just coming into her own right now.

2-Jacqui (Alydar Stables, ridden by D Van Dyke)- Appeared last year in the BC Juvenile Fillies Turf, and finished in the middle of the pack. As a three-year-old, she has continued to perform well, with two wins in six starts, hitting the board in all but one of them. She looked strong last time out in the Grade 2 Rodeo Drive Stakes, finishing second in a photo. That would not be enough to get her into the BC this time around, so she lands here and hoping for her fifth career win.

3- Dime United (Asgar, ridden by P Lopez)- After a couple of flat races on soft turf at MTH, Dime United as bounced back over her last two, with victories. There was no rain in either of them, and the trainer will be happy to see no rain in the forecast here. Last month, the filly ran in the Autumn Miss Stakes, a Grade 3 at SA, and took home the win. She will try to follow that up here and is working very well coming into the race. She’s not going to be the top choice here, but I certainly can see her being there at the end with the ability to pull it off. Her numbers are a lot better when you disregard the soft turf races.

4- Supine (Team 7 Illusions, ridden by Mar Garcia)- With Secret Of A Lady, we saw a great example of what a change of adds can do a horse. With Supine, we see the opposite end of the spectrum. Supine, still a lightly raced filly, came into the QE II Challenge Cup looking a little different, with blinkers for the first time. That didn’t go well, and we won’t see them here (as of press time). She’s an impressive filly that won the Grade 1 DMR Oaks and placed fourth in the $1,500.000 Dueling Ground Oaks against very strong company. Arguably, she is the top choice here but there will be some concern that there was more to the QE II Challenge Cup result than just the blinkers.

5- Past Mistress (Diablo Diablo, ridden by R Bejarano)- Most of her career has been in overnights, and she has generally been able to find a spot somewhere in the top four, but has only made two trips to the winner’s circle. Two starts ago, she had her lone stake opportunity, coming in the Grade 3 Waya, and it did not go well. Following that, she got that second win on this racetrack and will look to redeem herself for the Waya. At least La Terrifiant isn’t here for her to deal with again.

6- Reorganize (Czech Out Farms, ridden by D Davis)- Had some stake opportunities earlier in the year, and looked overmatched. However, the trainer did not let that stop him and his filly eventually reorganized her performances starting in August at the $100.000 Mrs Penny Stakes, for PA-Breds, that she won emphatically. That has set off a stretch of four races with a pair of wins, a second and a third, all in ungraded races. Now, Reorganize takes another step forward while she is riding this hot streak.

7- Sound Bath (Mb Stables, ridden by I Ortiz Jr)- After winning an optional claimer at over a mile on the turf in March at GP, Sound Bath’s previous trainer stopped entering her in that type of race. Mb Stables acquired her for $35.000 in July, and has run her three times, all on the grass at a mile or more, and she has won all of them. This makes her 4-for-4 with this specific condition. Two of them are graded wins, each at AQU in the Grade 2 Sands Point and the Grade 3 Long Island. Can she make it 5-for-5 here?

8- Ohara (Royalty Stables, ridden by J R Velazquez)- Over the last year, Ohara has finished in the top four in all of her races and that includes three wins. She has had a couple of stake opportunities and came close to winning the Grade 2 San Clemente Handicap in July, but for now her wins are in overnights. Most of her races have been sprints, but the one time she has gone long was the San Clemente, and she proved she could handle it.

Prediction: 4-7-3-1
