1st Insist On Perfection Maxmillion Farm Cohen D

All but one of these runners finished within two lengths of this winner showing again just how hard these races are to win and how one little thing can make a huge difference to the result. Today this seven-year-old decided to become a front runner and managed to snatch just a big enough break on them to take the win by a half-length. Using the wide gate to get away well he was never left alone at the front, but this is a battle-hardened sprinter, and he knew how to get the job done. He has become a really consistent sprinter at this level and enjoyed the penalty free status of the race after taking two similar races last year. I like these older sprinters and at seven he is holding his form well enough to have a season or two still to pay a profit.

2nd Start With A Smile Black N Gold Stable Lezcano J

The older horses once again had the advantage over the four-year-olds as is normal at this time of year and this six-year-old who was never far off the leader was really trying hard all the way to the line. In truth he never looked like getting there but still ran a super race and is another highly consistent sort who looks to be coming to the peak of his abilities.

3rd Jupiter Moon Big Jd Racing Lopez P

Beaten less than a length and the first four-year-old home he has plenty of time to win these types of races and is building a decent sprinting record. In the mix the whole way he ground out third but never quite looked like reaching the first two.

4th Grayte Agent Mo Mentum Farm Geroux F

It just goes to show how hard these races can be to win when this grade two winner could not outrun horses that have achieved less. He would probably have been happier had he got the lead but try as he might he could not get his nose in front and ran out of puff in the last furlong or so, He may have needed the run after over two months off so I wouldn’t be writing off more black type wins just yet.
