The Inside Information – Grade II
7 Furlongs Dirt Stake Purse $200.000 Filly & Mare 4 Year Olds And Up.
1st Devil In High Heels The Sidley Stud Davis D
Out of all the buys from Fractious to run this weekend this one has probably proven to be one of the most successful as she ground out a neck win in a faster time than the grade one La Brea was won in when she was beaten in her last start. That fact tells us that she has improved for that first effort and even now we can look forward to the BC where I am sure she will run better than she did last year. She settled in the perfect spot today and responded bravely to the drive as she kept pulling out more all the way to the post.
2nd Smokin Cara Alydar Stables Zayas E J
We have seen this stable win plenty with these come from behind tactics but today we saw the other side of the closing coin as she flew home and just came up short. This was another huge late effort, the same which has seen this mare close up in two BC Fillies and Mares Sprints but as we have seen so many times those tactics don’t tend to work consistently, and they have yet to in the championship races. She should once again be in the BC mix and if it is her day she could well win it at the third time of asking.
3rd Groovy TwinTowersRacing Pennington F
Pushed the button from the outside draw but couldn’t match the fast early pace and had to settle for the stalk. Considering that position from a wide draw can be the kiss of death, she ran a great race keeping on bravely for third and is yet another ex-Fractious runner that is paying her new stable back with interest.
4th New Albany Our Athletes Saez L
Stalked the pace but weakened late into fourth this was still a big effort from the mare who, with better luck from the draw monster, may be a factor in the BC picture.
