9 GP The Holy Bull Stakes (GIII) [KYD]
$250.000 11/16 Mile Dirt 3yo 121lbs
It looks like the theme of this weekend’s handicapping will be in honor of Bob Uecker… “just a bit outside“. But the good news is, Red Fox Farms has landed their first graded stakes score as Tropical Surge did just that… surged when the wire came up in the tropical breezes of Hallandale Beach, landing the win in Saturday’s Holy Bull Stakes (GIII), while picking up valuable points towards Louisville in May. The gray gelding makes it three wins in a row, getting home by a neck while stopping the clock at 1:41.54 for the mile and a sixteenth over the main GP oval, listed as Fast. Mb Stables looked to have this one as Grit And Grind took the lead into the lane, but just couldn’t hold off the eventual winner, while taking the second spot by a length over a photo for the minor placings. Happy Brave from The Sidley Stud outfit took that Kodak moment nosing out another Big Barn charge, Bitcoin Bobby in fourth. Six lengths covered the field of twelve.
