With the quality of horses that were running in the Ladies Turf Sprint, they certainly deserved to be running for more than a $125.000 purse. We can proudly say that the top horses came to play on this day, with the well accomplished Miss Fury getting the job done, narrowly over Sweet T, a filly that is thriving in turf sprints. Miss Fury was our pick to win, and in fact all four of our picks ended up finishing in the top four spots (not in the exact order picked). Surprisingly, Miss Fury was not the post time favorite, as the bettors gave that nod to Rowdy Spirit. Not sure why, but it wasn’t because of the person who bred her. Mb Stables can cross the stake off the ever-shrinking list of stakes he had never won yet, and E J Zayas is also a first-time winner. Congratulations to them! The time of the was :56.60, the third fastest in the history of the race. Let’s take a look at it:

(1/4 Mile- :22.24)- Rowdy Spirit, proudly running in the silks of Sim Speed Stable, prevails with the lead entering the turn. She’s nearly a full length ahead of Big Jd Racing’s Bronxbabesarebest, who is on the inside. Alice Springs was actually the quickest out of the gate, and it seemed like the TwinTowersRacing filly would be the early leader, but she instead settles for third, also within a length of the leader. It’s tight right behind them as well, with our eventual winner of the race, Mb Stables- trained Miss Fury running fourth by a nose, while taking the lane right behind Rowdy Spirit. Running evenly for fifth are Sinisoul (Alydar Stables) and Sweet T (Spb Racing). Nazca Lines (Delta Farms) is within a length on the rail in her turf debut. It’s another length to Emily (Nakamura Stables), and the trailer is Kuul Off (Asgar).

(Top of Stretch, 1.5F To Go)- Rowdy Spirit is looking to go wire to wire as she rounds the turn continuing to hold the lead. She’s been able to put away Bronxbabesarebest, but now has to deal with Sweet T inching closer to her inside as well as the advancing Nazca Lines on the rail. There would be just enough of an opening for Miss Fury to come on through between Alice Springs and Rowdy Spirit as well. Things were a bit congested for Emily here, but she was hanging in close to them. Sinisoul was tiring out, and Kuul Off has looking for her best lane.

(Finish- :56.60)- Briefly, Sweet T would hold the lead early in the stretch run, but once Miss Fury was able to come on between horses, she was simply looking a little quicker than the rest of them. Sweet T was very resilient and did everything in her power to hold off the advance of Miss Fury, and an exciting finish was in store between them. A photo would be needed, and it would show Miss Fury winning by a head over Sweet T. Truly a great run by both of them. Nazca Lines was good in her first turf race as well, grabbing the head bob over Emily at the wire. The trip did Emily no favors today. Kuul Off did all she could to be fifth, and Alice Springs seemed poised for a better run than her sixth-place result. Bronxbabesarebest would be next, ahead of Rowdy Spirit and Sinisoul.

About The Winner- Miss Fury, trained by Mb Stables, and ridden to victory by E J Zayas, is a five-year-old mare by Fire N Fury and is out of Deliberate Miss. She was bred here in Florida by Mb Stables as a second quarter two-year-old and they have been together throughout. Congratulations to the connections! The win is her twelfth is 22 starts and her sixth stake win. Her career earnings are now $1,106.530.
