1 Night Cruise Mb Stables Cedillo A 122 —
Back in trip after some consistent form over further, there is no reason why she won’t sprint well, and I think we can trust the champion trainer that she will. Her form is all at overnight level, but she is lightly raced and has been competitive at the high level so you would think this is a natural progression for her. Difficult to really line up but the draw, her consistency and of course her trainer will make her a big chance.
2 The Great Escape Team 7 Illusions Corrales G 122 —
Three wins from just four races and already a five-year-old, she is the epitome of patient training that may be about to be rewarded. Her works are great and though she is untested at this level there seems no reason she won’t make the transition successfully.
3 Broadway Heiress Glorify Stables Roman C 122 —
After the first two which seem full of promise and mystery when it comes to stakes races this one has plenty to go on and most of it is very good. Placed in her last three at this level, she is proven both at the trip and in the grade with my only worry being that she has been a beaten favorite in those last three. A good choice for the form pundits and looks a safe bet for top three.
4 Double Zee TwinTowersRacing Beschizza A 122 —
She was pretty highly tested as a three-year-old and ran some decent races at the top level including a fourth in the grade One Test. She didn’t win a race last year which is a worry but was in a much higher grade for the most part and over a variety of trips and surfaces. On seasonal debut she was last, beaten a length in a GP Optional claimer but was eye catching enough at the end to be given a blowout chance in this.
5 Southern Wolf Mo Mentum Farm Doyle S 122 —
One of the more experienced in the field, this six-year-old is the winner of eight from twenty-five and has run well at all trips and on both surfaces. Hard to weigh up, but she is talented and honest, and her experience may be very useful in this field.
6 Hannah McKay Riggins Racing Roman E A 122 —
Well, what a journey this one has been on. It all started at the free track in November of last year when she cruised home in a free track cheap claimer. Then she went to the fair track in an even cheaper claimer and once again cruised home well clear. Up a few dollars on the claim next up she made it three in a row and then four in an allowance at BTP. In her last start she went to TP to make it five in a row in a starter allowance and has since worked a very speedy 1.10 and 3 for this trip. She would be a story if she can make it six in a row from the wide draw and I see no reason why I won’t be writing it.
SUMMARY
Hannah McKay would be a great story for this race and the form that the stable is in there is no reason why she won’t win. It will however be a big step up and she will have to beat the equally progressive The Great Escape as well as the proven form of Broadway Heiress, Night Cruise and Southern Wolf.
