8 SA American Stakes (GIII)
$100.000 4yo&Up 1 Mile Turf 123lbs +penalties
The American Stakes (GIII) was a Boo Boo… no, nothing wrong with the race itself. As a matter of fact, Boo Boo was the 7/2 post time favorite, and the Nakamura Stables trainee stayed close to the pace and edged away late to take the victory by a neck, stopping the clock at 1:322 for the flat mile. The SA turf was listed as Firm. The 4yo gray gelding lands his second win of the season and his first stakes win, while showing a 8/3/2 record from seventeen lifetime starts. Congrats to the Connections!
Spankys Barn grabs the runner-up spot as Green Flag closes from mid-pack to take the place at 12/1 odds, then another longshot, La Canada Racehorses’ Jerry West noses out Snidley Whiplash, from the TwinTowersRacing outfit, third and fourth decided in that photo. Only three lengths separated the field and there were no scratches.
