Vanessa Looks to Take The Roxelana

The Roxelana
CD Race #10 6f Dirt Stake
Purse $200.000 For Fillies And Mares Four Years Old And Upward.

1 Line Of Flight D J C Racing Stables Beschizza A 122 —

A decent enough sort who has run well in this grade without making a significant mark since her good third in the Las Virgenes last year. A change of tactics saw her run well in the Broadway last time where she made the running but gave way in the seventh furlong. Similar tactics over this furlong less will see her in the race for a long way.

2 The Great Escape Team 7 Illusions Corrales G 122 —

She set up a good record in lesser company with three wins from four starts so the natural progression to a stakes race was on the cards when she took on the Queens Stakes last time. Coming with a late flourish she very nearly caught a good stakes filly failing by just a head over this trip. A lightly raced five-year-old, she has plenty of potential and could be a good bet from this great draw.

3 So Blitz Asgar Geroux F 122 —

A consistent five-year-old she doesn’t win out of turn but has run some good races in defeat. Recently she came home strongly to go down by a neck in the Broadway but that was over seven furlongs, and she may find this six a bit sharp. If she can stay close enough early, she will be a chance.

4 Vanessa Royalty Stables Garcia Mar 122 —

On recent efforts you would have to say she is the form choice here although she will find these six furlongs on the short side, her class may pull her through. She put up an excellent performance in the Santa Monica beaten just a half-length into second and recording a 101-speed figure. She was a touch outclassed in the grade one Vinery Madison last time but wasn’t far behind the best sprinter in the game so I think we can say with certainty she is the best horse in the race, at least before the off!!

5 Hannah McKay Riggins Racing Torres J A 122 —

She nearly pulled off a sixth win in a row and a remarkable feat last time as she progressed from a $4.000 claimer at BTP all the way to the Queen Stakes without losing a race. It was a huge effort in the Queens Stakes leading at a fast tempo and very nearly holding them at bay until going down by less than a half-length. There is no doubt this is a filly on the up and she wouldn’t have to improve much more to win this.

6 Long Kill RNP Stables Ortiz J L 122 —

Another that has come from a $4.000 claimer, she has proven herself in two efforts since to be a lot better than that. A close up finish in a KEE allowance last time, she is sure to be thereabouts again.

SUMMARY

I think on form at least, this will be between Vanessa and Hannah Mckay but there is plenty of potential in the field and it won’t be clear cut.
