  13   The PIM Special (GIII)

$250.000      3yo&Up    13/16th Mile   Dirt      3yo 119  Older 124lbs

Get in front and improve position… it’s a saying as old as horse racing itself, and although it wasn’t quite that clear in Friday’s PIM Special (GIII), The Sidley Stud sent Berlin from the gate and he went under the wire clear by a length (plus), taking down an easy win… I mean, let’s face it… he won by many many feet… horse or otherwise.  The final running time was 1:553 for the mile and three-sixteenths, and the main track at PIM was listed as Good.  A 7yo gelding, the bay may be as good as he’s ever been… and after missing the win here last year by a head after having a clear lead in the lane, I’m sure the Natty Bohs will taste a bit sweeter after this win… this being the eleventh victory of his career, in thirty starts, and he now has earnings of $1,923.620.  Congrats to the connections.

Haskell tried to pick his feet up a bit fast down the lane, but could not get to the winner, settling for the runner-up spot… about a foot, or a head in front of Heart Of Genghis in third.  It was another quarter length to Stormy Sultan getting the minor money.  Five lengths covered the field of nine and their were no scratches.
