Regret – Grade III
CD Race #10 1 1/8m Turf Graded Stake
Purse $275.000 For Fillies Three Years Old.
1 Heaven In The Bronx Langley Farms Elliott S 122 —
A filly with ability but she is unproven at this level. Her form may be a bit skewed by her efforts on the dirt track as her two from three record on the turf suggests that a prolonged campaign on this surface may have produced a better record. A close fourth on this track last time at optional claimer level suggests she may be worth looking at as an each way prospect.
2 Sannys Legacy Threshold Lopez P 122 —
There is no doubt that this is a decent filly in the wet, but she does have something to prove should the track stay dry. Her win in the Appalachian last time was out of the top drawer producing an electrifying finish to take it on the line but that was in her favored conditions, so it is hard to compare if it is dry for this race. She did win the Tepin on a dry track, so she is still in it if the sun shines. A great draw and an in-form jock, her chances are obvious.
3 Happy Dancer Nakamura Stables Gallardo A A 122 —
It has been a long time since she ventured to this surface but after an uncharacteristic effort in the Gazelle last time, she finds herself back on the turf to try and resurrect her form. Her turf works say she is ready for a big run and if she can get up on pace, she may well be the one to surprise.
4 Blakeney Royalty Stables Velazquez J R 122 —
The stable is coming back to form in recent months and though this filly has only one win to her name this race looks perfect for adding a second. A great second in the Edgewood last time we mustn’t forget her brilliant effort in the BC Juvenile Turf last year where she nearly made all but was collared close home to end up a very close third. She clearly has a ton of ability but as her record shows often finds one too good. This is a great opportunity in a race that shapes well for her.
5 Love Mo Mentum Farm Franco M 122 —
You can’t knock winning form, and this filly has won her last three in the style of a filly that is on the improve. She was very strong when making all to win the Sanibel Island last time and a repeat of that will see her very close. She has the speed to set this race up and she could just well slip them on the home turn and take this out.
6 Ride With An Edge Mb Stables Geroux F 122 —
Bought by Mb Stables for $175.000 after a good win in the Blue Norther Stakes, she then switched to the dirt to run a couple of terrific races in the Alexanda and the GP Oaks. Back to the turf last time the off track caught her out in the Edgewood so I would be looking for a dry track here to give her a win chance. She has a lot going for her not least the capable hands of the champion trainer.
7 Red Feathers Team 7 Illusions Corrales G 122 —
Went from a maiden win in her second start to the FG Oaks in her third and ran pretty well to be sixth considering her inexperience. She stepped up on that effort to be a closing third in the Edgewood last time back on turf and considering she has only had four starts has put herself right in a race like this even with her inexperience.
SUMMARY
A tight little race with some talent in it that could turn out to be better than this race. Ride With An Edge will be a popular choice and Red Feathers is a danger and has plenty of scope. I do like Love though, not only for the name but because she is a filly in form. The trip bothers me though so she won’t be my first choice, for that I will go outside the square with Happy Dancer. Blakeney and Sannys Legacy both have claims if things go their way and in fact it is hard to write any runner off in this open field.
