$400.000 4yo&Up 61/2f Dirt 123lbs
The big races keep coming and it’s only Friday… we look at a field of eleven sprinter gents set to go six panels on the main Spa oval in The True North (GIII). This is a big purse for the quick guys, and it certainly brought out an all-star cast. I think Edward The Good is going just about as well as any sprint type right now, so I’ll give him the edge in this one. Both of his ’25 wins came on a damp surface, and they are calling for rain here on Friday evening and Saturday, so… read into that as you will, but he’s won six of fourteen starts and put some serious cash in the bank… I think he is good enough to take this one. Let’s go right next door and take Gorilla Glue in the second spot. He was stumbling a bit through the back end of the ’24 season, as a matter of face he was fourth in this race last year, but the break helped him find his form again. He won the Colonel Power on the FG lawn, then took the Nerud (GIII) at AQU, coming back to the main oval, closing in an impressive way. I know he didn’t show his best last out, see the rain, and if it is wet here I’d probably skip him, but Chisel is so classy and so fast… you have to include him in the conversation any time he goes to the starting gate. After that last race, I must say, if it does rain… walk away.
It’s a solid field and this should be a fun one!
