I hope Lady Hilltopper runs until she’s 113 years old… she’s a joy.  Today was one of those “stick around and find out” type of races where she just stalked the pace like the monster she is, and of course that means the Black N Gold Stables trained champion motoring past them all in the late portion of The NY (GI), and getting her nose on the wire first.  It was a neck that decided this one as the 6yo by mare finished the mile and a sixteenth in 1:54:03 over the wet turf, labeled as Good.  That is her second win of the season, her fifteenth of her career and she now show lifetime earnings of $3,021.580.  Surprisingly… that is her first wet track effort, and of course, a win.  Congrats to the Connections!

Poetic Panther from the Maletto stable set a disputed pace to just inside the sixteenth pole but The Lady moved up on her outside and it was a three horse battle to the finish where this one pulled the second spot.  To her inside, Explorer, from the Avenue Z barn, battled on well, taking the third spot by three lengths to Mb Stables’ Secret Of A Lady.  Five lengths covered the field and there were no scratches.
