Canadian Stakes – Grade II
WO Race #4 1 1/8m Turf Graded Stake
Purse $200.000 For Fillies And Mares Three Years Old And Upward.
1 Dont Mind A Dime Asgar Vives S 123 —
Won the Endeavor earlier this year and backed that up with a fair effort in the Beuna Vista. A weak effort in the ungraded Irish Stakes made the trainer look to change surfaces in her last start but she again didn’t finish her race off when third in an overnight at TAM. I think she is better on this turf surface and if she is allowed to dictate off the front from this rail draw, she could be right there at the finish.
2 Jacqui Alydar Stables Walcott R W 123 —
Consistent this year she took the Beaugay on an off track and has placed in two decent grade threes on a dry track so looks well placed in this field. Will find the stalk from this draw and has every chance being a winner over nine furlongs and a five-race winner on the grass.
3 Sandbox Langley Farms Wilson E J 123 —
Has been pretty good at overnight level but this is a big step up in grade. Her works say she cam live with these and she is lightly raced and unexposed so has plenty of upside. Not obvious but could surprise.
4 Wyldewood Mo Mentum Farm Velazquez J R 123 —
Another consistent sort she ran well over this trip to be second in the Anchorage Stakes and could be taking advantage if there is a speed battle up front.Only a couple of lengths behind Dont Mind A Dime in the Endeavor so is right in this with a chance.
5 Wild Cats Mo Mentum Farm Hernandez R M 123 —
A versatile mare she has been a bit in and out this year but at her best would be highly competitive. 8 times a turf winner and 7 times over longer trips.
6 Groovy TwinTowersRacing Moran D 123 —
Has some good form in her record but hasn’t been at her best this year and that may have been why she was given a sprinting run last time. She has won on the grass despite her recent form being on the dirt she will have to be in the right head space to be winning today.
7 My Princess Em Bigchief Stables Lopez P 123 —
There looks to e plenty of speed in this race, but I think this one can win the race for the lead thanks to the wide gate speed push. She made all to win the Eaton Town last time out on her favored off track, but I think she can run on a faster surface if that is what we have today. With only ten starts there is plenty more to come from this lightly raced late comer, and I think she will be a big chance here.
SUMMARY
There are a few here that want to be on speed which could set up a closer, but I think My Princess Em will win the race for the front thanks to the wide gate speed push that apparently doesn’t exist. That will mean she will be right in it at the end but if there is a fast pace a closer like Wyldewood could pick her up.
