Wyldewood Cuts Them Down in Canadian Stakes

Canadian Stakes – Grade II
1 1/8 Mile Turf Stake Purse $200.000 Filly & Mare 3 Year Olds And Up.

1st Wyldewood Mo Mentum Farm Velazquez J R

Well, with seven races without a win, this five-year-old mare was dealt the cards today as the hot pace allowed her to use her closing style perfectly and come away for the win. Her last three races saw two claiming defeats but her last start when again beaten in the Anchorage suggested there had been some improvement found after a claim (which can sometimes happen) and today she went up another gear. Admirably consistent, she just finds to find the right pace to be a threat in any field.

2nd Groovy TwinTowersRacing Moran D

Her last three races really show you where we are as far as surface and trip goes here at HRP as she had raced in a dirt mile, a turf sprint and now a turf route and in all cases ran pretty soundly. I have no idea if she has a best trip or surface but as we saw today, she can be pretty much competitive anywhere.

3rd My Princess Em Bigchief Stables Lopez P

Made the running, but at the half it was obvious the AI had misjudged the pace, and it was always going to be a case of which closer caught her. She had won two of her last three using the same tactics so you can understand going to the front, but she was always going to be hard pushed to keep up the gallop. A very good effort nonetheless and this consistent and lightly raced mare continues to do her trainer proud.

4th Wild Cats Mo Mentum Farm Hernandez R M

Stalked the lead but like the leader was always going to be vulnerable off a strong gallop. As it was, she kept on well and was beaten less than a length so you can take nothing away from this decent effort.
