The Test – Grade I
SAR Race #7 7f Dirt Graded Stake
Purse $500.000 For Fillies Three Years Old.
1 Shes All I Need TwinTowersRacing Franco M 122
A closer by nature she did well around this trip in overnights so was stepped up to back type in her last three and has shown enough ability to be a grade one contender here. Third in the Selene over a longer trip last time her two previous efforts had been on an off track, so it is hard to weigh up her chances. She gets the inside which may help her stay a bit closer than normal but she will also have traffic problems so there is a bit to consider before I see her winning.
2 Shericka Winning Link Stables Velazquez J R 122
The winner of the SUN Oaks and the DEL Oaks over longer trips that may be a concern in real life but not really here at HRP. Third in the Eight Belles over this trip, in front of Shes All I Need, her stalking style will be perfectly matched to this draw, and she must be considered a decent chance in her first grade one. The jockey booking is key as Velazquez has already won two graded stakes on her.
3 Silk Road Big Guns Stables Husbands P 122
Many horses don’t seem to have much trip preference here, but some do, and I feel this one is one of those that is definitely better sprinting than routing. Won the Fury over this trip before a solid second in the Victory Road last time which makes her an each-way chance as an improving sort.
4 Dupixent Night Rider Stables Ortiz I Jr 122
Another that has mixed trips and surfaces with very little difference in performance, she may just be looking for the seven furlongs and sometimes this can be a trip that becomes a specialized trip. A good third in the IND Oaks last time she certainly has the ability if she likes the seven furlongs.
5 Fire Storm D J C Racing Stables Corrales G 122
A solid sprinting filly she ran on for third in the Victory Road last time right alongside Silk Road so those two fillies find themselves at it again and I doubt there will be much between them again. She may get back a bit from this sticky draw so will need some luck late as there isn’t a whole lot of speed in this race, but she has every chance if things go her way.
6 Tranquil Top Mb Stables Lopez P 122
Consistent enough since her maiden win and ran well to be third in the Bourbonette Oaks so clearly has ability. Her works say she is right in this, and she sprinted well enough in her last two although I think her best chance may come from being taken back a bit as that Bourbonette Oaks run came as a closer and that may be her best hope. But with the GOAT at the helm, I am sure whatever they chose will be better than anything I can come up with so put her down as a winning chance.
7 Promote Violence Team 7 Illusions Lezcano J 122
Typically, the one without any stakes form is one of the fastest workers but we have gotten very used to that sort of ambiguous stuff here at HRP. She was a very good winner at SAR last time and that run brings her right into this, but she has to cope with a wide draw and some battle-hardened fillies here so she will have to be good from out here. Tactics will be key to her chances.
SUMMARY
These three-year-old filly’s races seem to be ending up as replays as the population of fillies at this level this year seems to be pretty small. Thus, we end up with changing results and form that blows in the wind a little and the result often comes down to draw and pace. I think on the balance of form I will have to go for Shericka as the winner but don’t ask me who will finish second or third.
