Bold Venture Stakes – Grade III
6 1/2 Furlongs Dirt Stake Purse $150.000 Open 3 Year Olds And Up.
There would be a dead heat in this race and just five lengths first to last so there were certainly no surprises there and the fact that a horse that had run 12 of its last 14 races over a mile plus was winning a competitive sprint was also just another day at the office for the HRP faithful. Here is how the first four secured their pay checks:
1st Electric Angelos Stable Curtis B
Whilst this seven-year-old has been running over longer trips, a look back through his long past reveals 11 wins from 32 races over sprint trips, so I guess there was no surprise in this victory. A grade three win in the slop over a mile to a feisty sprint over six and a half furlongs doesn’t seem to make much difference at HRP but the class gene and the ability number certainly do, and this one is proven on both counts. Traveling in the pack behind the swift pace he came out on top in a driving finish using all his proven stamina to get over the line. What an admirable servant this one has been for the stable, bought in 2021 for just $30.000 he has never seen a stakes race but since then has run in 46 races for Angelos Stable winning well over $1,500.000 over a variety of trips and going. Who knows how much longer he has got but, on this showing, today he will be around for a while yet.
2nd Elvis Lives Party Mb Stables Franco M
A fairly lightly raced five-year-old, he is improving nicely this year and for a moment inside the last furlong looked like the winner. In the end he was just out battled but after running on the grueling pace he can be forgiven for being a little tired at the end.
3rd Indiscretion John Henry Bocachica Ar
Tried hard to get to the lead but ended up stalking it and though tired at the end fought on well to hold third. He has run a couple of dud races in May this year but seems to be back firing again.
4th So Slick Asgar Lopez P
Had to run through a lot of horses to get fourth after falling off the swift early pace, this was another solid effort from the horse.
