Gallant Bob Stakes – Grade II
6 Furlongs Dirt Stake Purse $400.000 Open 3 Year Olds.
1st Aggravated Jung Noblepark Lopez P
This race was run at the perfect pace for this three-year-old who had won the Lang Stakes in almost identical splits with an almost identical run. Only eighth in the Crosby last time, he was only a length back that day and ran far better than his finishing position implied and proved that today. There was a lot of stamina in this race for a sprint race, and this was one of the more traditional sprinters in the race and it showed as he powered home.
2nd Gold State Mb Stables Velazquez J R
Once again, he proved that his late finishing style in long routes is pretty much the same regardless of what distance he races although he was much closer in transit today and that blunted his finish just a bit. Considering he has won over $1,000.000, I always get the feeling that this horse could have won more if his running style was more conducive with this race engine. I am still not sure if he is a sprinter or a router but then, just maybe. it doesn’t make much difference to him anyway.
3rd Ineedu2party Maxmillion Farm Roman K
Took them along from the gate at a strong pace but couldn’t hold them at the end and ended up third.
4th Brooklyn Bash First Flight Stable Gallardo A A
Like his stable mate has been seen more in routes recently but pretty much ran the same sort of race today as he would over longer trips. He was keeping on at the end and for me may just be one of those seven-furlong specialists.
