Tiger Town Dominates in Canadian Derby

Canadian Derby – Grade III
1 3/8 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $150.000 Open 3 Year Olds.

1st Tiger Town, trained by Aer Stables
The outside speed boost allowed him to lay closer to the pace than usual, exactly the same that has happened the last two times he was drawn wide. The fact that he was a class above his rivals ensured that he had enough at the end to power home a fairly comprehensive winner. Lightly raced and improving, there is no reason he can’t add another black type to his name before the end of the year.

2nd Reindeer, trained by Triple T Racing
Looked second best on paper, and that’s where he finished. He had little left at the end and may have found the trip a little far, but at the end of the day, ran just about as well as expected.

3rd Eye For Art, trained by Aer Stables
Finished much closer to the first two than I expected, but was clearly third best.

4th Jellicoe, trained by Bigking
Close up for a mile, he faded out of it at the end.

SUMMARY
Probably the most obvious one-two of the year, the only question mark about the whole race was how close the rest of the field got to the first two.
