Hero Sweep Gets It Right in The Mohawk

The Mohawk
1 1/16 Mile Inner Turf Stake Purse $200.000 Open 3 Year Olds And Up Foaled In NY.

1st Hero Sweep Night Rider Stables Dettori L

It all fell into place beautifully for this much improved five-year-old as the fast early pace and a good position just shy of midfield saw him launch his late finish at the perfect time. Since his $19.000 claim this horse has shown remarkable improvement just by switching to turf even though he hadn’t shown this type of form on the surface before. Now however he has shown his flashing fourth in the DMR Handicap to be no fluke with a strong win here and one would expect a big late season from him.

2nd Aways Game Spb Racing Pennington F

Another claim this time for just $4.000 he was running his first ever race beyond seven furlongs today and showed that at HRP normal physics just do not apply. It is always good to try everything even when it may not seem reasonable and my hat is off to the this newer trainer who took the chance and it paid off handsomely. They now have a bonafide stakes type router in their yard and it will be interesting to see where this one goes next.

3rd Dime Fall Asgar Carmouche K

A strong favorite for this race he was handed the wide gate speed push by the race engine but for some reason it made him go too hard too early despite an easy lead and he was always vulnerable at the sharp end. Another consistent effort though.

4th If This Is It Martyparty Husbands P

Stayed on into fourth but was never really in the race, this was a slightly better effort though and he may come back to his good early season form eventually.
