Clarendon Stakes
$150.000 Two Year Olds Foaled in ON
Six Furlongs Dirt
Woodbine November 23, 2025
Asgar had only one horse in the race. The other two owners had two each, but numbers did not matter as Twizt On A Dime built upon his October maiden win by impressively taking down the State Bred Clarendon Stakes. Four starts, two wins and two losses by less than a length. Those stats point to a very successful freshman season for Asgar’s ON homebred.
Winner: Twizt On A Dime (Asgar/L. Salles) Dime Defense/Dont Mind if I Twizt (Twizted Son) Sat a couple of lengths off of pacesetter Regal Classic and came through an opening at the top of the stretch as the leader began to give way. Finished strongly to win convincingly by a length. Second straight win both in ON bred restricted events. Acid test awaits in open company.
Second: Guapo (Mb Stables/R.M. Hernandez) Tactical/Bella Chica (Great Bounty) Another homebred with a very successful season. Has not won since his debut but has never run a bad race. Was not able to get to his usual frontrunning position and ran a strong stalking race but was just no match for the winner on this day. Winnings from this race push him over the $100.000 threshold.
Third: Regal Classic (Mo Mentum Farm/P. Husbands) Cheveley Park/Mon Dieu (Cherokee Scope) Bolted to the lead off of a great break. Set a fast pace to the top of the stretch where he began to give way. Despite being passed by two rivals he did not completely spit the bit and held his ground well to the wire.
Congratulations to Asgar as well as jockey L. Salles who both score their very first Clarendon victory. Two-year-old stakes wins, State Bred or not, have to be encouraging as we move into the lucrative three-year-old season very shortly.
