Well, it has come to that time of year when results can look strange as horses that have been running well all year are in need of a break and those that are getting some late movement up their improvement curve manage to take some big scalps. I wouldn’t say that about this one, her fourth in the Matchmaker made her a live contender here and she got her timing perfect in running the stalk and running the last furlong fast enough to hold off the closers. As a five-year-old she is still fairly lightly raced and has had her best season by far so maybe she could carry this good form on into next year.

She definitely appreciated the return to the grass and really tried hard to get the win at long odds but just failed in a head bobber. I think this effort will see her kept to longer trips next year and certainly the turf seems to be her thing.

3rd Eighteen Ninety Two Mo Mentum Farm Conner T

Disputed a fairly fast pace for much of the race and did pretty well in the end to hold third in a game effort. The first three-year-old home she is proving hard to win with but continues to put in honest efforts.

4th Nijinsky Team 7 Illusions Corrales G

Second at graded level in her last four starts she couldn’t make the top three here at ungraded level showing once again just how tough the class system is to work out. It was once again her running style that found her out, but I thought the trainer had got it right by sending the stable companion to the front to force a decent pace but in the end it just wasn’t enough for the race engine to give her a winning chance. Beaten less than a length she has now won $641.000 without even winning a race this year!
