Who Is the Great Hope in Great White Way?

NY Stallion Series – Great White Way
AQU Race #5 7f Dirt Stake
Purse $500.000 For Two Year Olds Foaled In NY.

1 Wealthy B Wonka Mb Stables Lopez P 120 —
Bought for $135.500 pre-race it was pretty clear the champion trainer had this one on their wish list and the gelding has quickly looked worth every cent. A good debut on this track was followed by a very impressive all the way win over a mile and one would imagine that from this inside draw he will look to go on or near the speed again and will be hard to beat.

2 Suspended Mb Stables Franco M 120 —
Well, you don’t get too many maidens better than this, fourth in a KD Juvenile, third in a BC Juvenile Turf and second in the Tyro he may be stepping onto a surface that he didn’t look as sharp on in the Champagne, but he brings the sort of form and work times that make him a big chance. I bring up the works because a few weeks ago this one out worked my older stakes winner so as long as this isn’t the ultimate morning glory he should be very, very competitive in this field of juveniles.

3 Mitchell Royalty Stables Curtis B 120 —
Seems to act on turf or dirt but then so does 90% of the horse population at HRP so that is no surprise. I think his best form for this came in the Bashford Manor when he was a very close fourth and running on well at the end over six furlongs. Certainly, a live hope in this.

4 Yankee Proud Temulac Farm Zayas E J 120 —
The winner of three this year you have to be good to win three at any level as a two-year-old. A nice winner of the Aspirant Stakes over five and a half furlongs he wasn’t as good last time when stepped up to the mile so there has to be question marks. Likely to come from behind he will need some luck from the squeeze box.

5 Jennings Royalty Stables Murphy O 120 —
One run, one win and some decent works make him a bit of an unknown quantity here. That win came over five furlongs on the turf so that isn’t much help, but his recent works tell us that he will be OK on the dirt, and he is certainly improving. He will need to step up but has the scope to do so.

6 Tanking Maxmillion Farm Gaskin D Z 120 —
A good worker he disappointed a little last time after a game maiden win and the jury is still out as to whether he is up to a race like this. He was drawn in the car park in the Sleepy Hollow and tried to push to the front but was never comfortable or left alone and inevitably weakened at the end. A slightly better draw brings him into this and if he can save a bit for the end I would expect a much better run.

7 Cortex Luz International Luzzi L J 120 —
He has been OK without really standing out so far but has ability and doesn’t look out of place in this field. A fair effort in the Funnycide when fifth he was keeping on well over the six furlongs so may be suited by this trip. The trainer jockey partnership makes this one a fun watch.

8 Bold Intruder The Sidley Stud Velazquez J R 120 —
Looked happy over the longer trip when taking the Sleepy Hollow last time over the mile but shouldn’t be inconvenienced by the seven furlongs today. That race saw a few of his rivals today toiling in behind and he really did run away that day from a tough draw and a far from ideal trip. The trainer has been in great form, and this could be another big pay day for the stable.

9 Political Star Big Guns Stables Ortiz I Jr 120 —
It is always hard to compare state bred form with open form and on this one’s fourth in the Breeders Futurity you would have to put him in the mix. The draw is tough for his running style so either the trainer has to balance instructions with the race engine, or he has to get lucky, if either happens, he has a winning chance.

10 Strike D J C Racing Stables Rodriguez Jam 120 —
Drawn wide he made all to win on this track last time and with the car park here I would expect a similar tactic. There is plenty of speed inside him so he will need some luck to clear them before the turn, but he looks a strong progressive sort who should be competitive.

SUMMARY
A very nice race for a very nice prize, you have to start with Mb Stables as always when looking for the winner. Drawn the inside two gates they have two nice types. Wealthy B Wonka Looked good last time and will get an easy rails trip whilst Suspended seems to be able to work like a champion but doesn’t do it on race day. You just have to take your pick between them, but Wealthy B Wonka looks less risky. The chances don’t end there though, and you have to respect Bold Ruler who was very impressive in the Sleepy Hollow last time and could just take the win.
