Elite Power – GIII
$250.000 – Three Year Olds And Upwards
6 Furlongs – Dirt
Aqueduct – December 6, 2025
Dorian Gray, the six year old gelding who won the BC Sprint last month, is back in action looking for an end of the year graded stakes score to finish off his season. The BC Sprint was his first and only stakes win of the year which is the one to win if you were made to choose. Another victory here would bolster his bona fides going into award season but seven challengers have shown up seeking to add to their own bragging rights by snagging a win against the reigning BC champ.
1. Dorian Gray (Mb Stables/J.R. Velasquez) Recent BC Sprint champ who was once claimed for as little as $15.000 as a four-year-old. He was picked up at auction towards the end of 2024 for $70.000 which has proven to be a bargain. Since that purchase he has hit the winners circle two times but has managed to be a very consistent presence in graded stakes sprints thus enabling him to qualify for the BC. Recent works show the six-year-old maintains his sharpness and the weight for age conditions and his post bode well for him to continue his winning ways.
2. Brooklyn Bash (First Flight Stables/B. Curtis) This three-year-old has changed hands a couple of times this year. He was prominent on the Triple Crown trail early in the year and was sold for $300.000 after a third-place finish in two prep races. After disappointing in both the Derby and the Preakness he was marked down to $150.000 and sold to his current connections who have managed him to four very good consistent performances in graded stakes races against his own age group. His last two have been in sprints and he nearly won the G3 Perryville in his last race. Might be finding his niche as a sprinter but testing older for the first time.
3. Bitcoin Bobby (Robeth/Ar. Bocachica) Another three-year-old who was on the Derby trail early. He was sold to his current barn for $200.000 after failing to impress in the Forida Derby. He was moved to the grass with limited success but was a near miss when switched back to dirt in his last race. He has not sprinted in a year. He has a graded stakes win to his credit but that was routing on grass as a two-year-old. Cutting back and taking on older foes for the first time.
4. My Tomorrows (Maxmillion Farm/S.X. Bridgmohan) Was picked up for $100.000 in a private sale in May and has since run well sprinting for his new trainer. Won a NY Bred stakes race at the Saratoga meet then nearly took the G3 Vosburgh which was his best effort of the season. Disappointed in the Bold Ruler but his trainer comes here off of a monster five-furlong work at Aqueduct in 57.2 which was the third fastest at that track this year. Definitely coming in sharp.
5. Apocolyptic (The Next Lohnro/T.W. Bacon) Veteran trainer who sports a 24%-win ratio this season and picks stakes spots very carefully. Only the trainer’s fifth stakes entry of the year. They have won once so far in four efforts and have hit the board in three out of four, so you have to assume they come in here very well intentioned. This three-year-old colt comes in lightly raced himself with two wins from six starts. He ran in a small sprint stakes in March and just missed the win by a nose. His last start was a good fourth against a salty older group in a high-level open allowance race at Aqueduct. That race serves as a good prep for this after a three-month layoff. Throw out his turf race. Very intriguing.
6. Misting (Winning Link Stables/Jam Rodriguez) Five-year-old gelding was purchased for $30.000 in June and has mostly been running in turf routes since almost winning the GI Fourstardave at Saratoga. He turned in a good effort sprinting on the grass in his last outing running third in the Aqueduct Turf Spring Championship and he has run very successfully sprinting on dirt in the past albeit at much lower levels. Talented and dangerous but hard to gauge.
7. Unattainable (Threshold/A.A. Gallardo) He has had a very successful season based on hitting the board five times in six starts with two wins. Lightly raced with only fourteen starts in total and only two stakes starts which were a year ago in smaller events. Ran a good second in a NJ bred sprint at Monmouth and he runs solid SRF figures consistently. Last work was excellent so he has a chance to surprise.
8. Deviations (Twin Towers Racing/M. Franco) Five-year-old homebred won a stakes race at PARX two races back but then regressed coming back in an optional claiming race at Churchill Downs although he did have to give weight in that one as reward for that stakes victory. Was in good form before that last race and has a right to be forgiven that one and rebound but not an easy assignment.
The BC Sprint champ on the rail seems like the obvious pick but the challengers here look to make him earn it including some interesting three-year-olds. I will still go with the chalk and put Dorian Gray on top. My Tomorrows looks sharp, and I will put him second, fighting it out with Brooklyn Bash and Apocolyptic for third.
