LCD Sprint
$125.000 Three Year Olds And Upward Foaled in LA
6 Furlongs – Dirt
Fairgrounds – December 13, 2025
Racing rarely goes according to plan, but this particular race did not deviate from plan at all. The two horses that seemed to be the obvious class of the field on paper turned out to be exactly that. Indiscretion and Sincere Connection went about seeing who was best from the opening bell to the wire engaging in a knock down drag out speed duel to see who was going to be the best LA bred sprinter on the day. Turned out to be Indiscretion who came home on top for winning trainer John Henry.
Winner: Indiscretion (John Henry/J.L. Ortiz) Indistinguishable/Heaven Awaits (Point Of Entry) Broke on top and was immediately engaged by Sincere Connection. The two battled head-to-head to the top of the stretch where that rival gave way. Finished determinedly to the wire to win by nearly a length. Five-year-old ends his season with a much-deserved stakes win after spending 2025 doing battle against tough graded stakes foes for much of it.
Second: Sincere Connection (Asgar/B. Curtis) So Sincere/Zephyr Studio (Profound Connection) Quickly challenged Indiscretion for the lead. He had a head in front after a quick quarter mile and went all Affirmed and Alydar on the winner for as long as he could. Was bested at the top of the stretch but held gamely for second. Another excellent effort in a really good season where he really deserved to get a win somewhere along the way.
Third: Pour Me A Drink (The Sidley Stud/M. Pedroza Jr) Killer Martini/Boleros Impact (Impactful) Was never far back from the leaders but sat at the back of the pack and bided his time until the late stretch where he was beginning to make progress late. Making only his first stakes effort in two years and only second overall, he did not disgrace and proved to be competitive at this level. New connections seem to have him moving in the right direction.
Fourth: White Walker (Mojica Racing/A. Concepcion) Manhunt/A Shooting Star (Astronomer) Was coming off a wire-to-wire allowance win and chose to stalk from his rail position rather than join the speed duel in front of him. Had a good look at the top of the stretch when the hole opened in front of him but could not kick for home strong enough to take advantage. Was barely caught late for third.
The final time of 1:08.82 sets a new stakes mark and the win by Indiscretion gives trainer John Henry his first win in this race. It was the first win in the LCD Sprint for jockey J.L. Ortiz as well. Although homebred Sincere Connection was not able to bring home a win for Asgar it was not needed for that trainer/breeder to retain their lead as the leading LA breeder for 2025, a lead which appears insurmountable at this late date. Congratulations to John Henry on an impressive stakes record win and to Asgar as well.
