Tenacious Stakes 1 1/16th on Dirt
Purse $100.000 (plus up to $15,000 for LA-Breds) For Three Year Olds And Upward.

Everything For Sale from Night Rider Stables was claimed for $30.000 back in April of this year. Four races since have seen a second and a win in claimers along with a dull effort when cutting back to one turn. However, the best race by far was his last, a third-place finish going a mile and an eighth in a grade three stakes. If “Sale” can muster that same effort here he is the horse to beat, and the speed figure earned that day tops the charting. Sweet P from Mo Mentum Farm was just claimed out of a wire-to-wire score on dirt going two turns. Has a bullet work over the track since, draws the rail and will certainly go from the rail. It’s a positive sign that the barn moves him up to stakes company in his first appearance for them. Just might forget to stop. Sky Diver from Crocker Ggs is a three-year-old making his fifth straight stakes appearance. “Diver” faced his elders sprinting in Canada to no avail, but today’s cast is arguably weaker. This is also a route where his late kick might be more effective if he is ready to handle older rivals. He should pick up some pieces late.
Of the Rest:
NImbus Two Thousand from Bigchief Stables ran a race back in April that fits well here. He also came running late in the mud last time. Whatever happens weather wise he will handle the track and might be slightly too far down on my preference list.
Bird Box from Bears Stable has sat back in all his recent races except for his last, a wire-to-wire score on the bullring. The splits of that race are pedestrian and won’t get it done here; however, it was a good effort so maybe a better finish could be coming today.
Carve from Broken Spoke Stables is a three-year-old who just ran second in a dirt stakes route at old Del Mar. The question here is the company, mostly elders. He did well in June facing a few elders, but that was over a good track and not a stakes. Will probably take some action at the windows and might prove that he fits.
Somethings Coming from Twin Towers Racing is a four-year-old colt who just broke his maiden in start number fourteen. Traditional handicapping says “no way Jose” moving into a stakes race for his first as a non-maiden. I’ll stick with tradition.
