Three-year olds Looking to Sweep the Event

Purse $350.00  For Three Year Olds And Upward.

1 Torres Bounce, trained by Night Rider Stables
This seven year old is enjoying his racing despite a 35 race career. A winner of four from five this year his only failure came in the grade two Highlander where he was a little one paced in seventh. There’s no doubt he has proved himself just below top grade but there are question marks at this level.

2 Sweep The Event, trained by Maxmillion Farm
Bought for a hundred dollars he looks to be a good buy and comes into this race with plenty of plus’s. He led the field in the Triple Bend last time before weakening but had lasted home on the turf over the same trip in the Connaught Cup Stakes the time before that. He has a fine record on the turf despite most of his races being on the dirt and works well enough on the surface to suggest he is pretty adaptable. A good draw puts him in with a great chance.

3 Surging River, trained by Aer Stables
Claimed for just $12.50 this lightly raced seven year old has won six from seventeen. This is a big step up for the gelding but he is pretty capable of running a big race at long odds.

4 Engaging, trained by Mb Stables
At a time when the three year olds are killing the older generation it would be a long stretch to see this one winning but anything can happen these days at HRP. Her last work suggested she is on the pace for this and i liked the way she sprinted to win a top allowance last time. Can a thrice raced three year old triumph against seasoned sprinters in his first attempt at black type? Well of course he can and he probably will.

5 Cliffs Edge, trained by D J C Racing Stables
Another three year old who is working fast enough to trouble the older horses his form is pretty thin though. A winner of just two from ten and pretty well beaten in overnight grade i cant see him stepping up today despite the advantage the three year olds seem to have.

6 Dogs Dragon, trained by Maxmillion Farm
The four year olds have been making a little comeback recently so i am happier about this ones chances than i wouldve been a month ago. He was just behind Sweep The Event in the Connaught Cup but sprinted well to win the Parx Sprint last time. He is working better and better and is consistency personified so if he is your choice you are sure to get a good run.

7 Neto, trained by D J C Racing Stables
Another three year old who is working well enough with the weight allowance to get into the finish. He sprinted well to win the NY Stallion Stakes – Bid the time before last but failed to stay the mile after that in the NY Stallion Stakes – Calloway. Like the other three year olds he hasnt got the exposed form or ability to win this but the weight allowance and the way HRP is at the moment gives him a fair chance.

8 Fire Up The Night, trained by John Henry
The last three year old in the field he has been a victim of horse selling park recently changing hands more times than he has raced. He has scrambled home in his last two races, winning the Quick Call last time in a decent time. The wide gate may stretch him if he tries to get on the pace but he has a similar chance to the other three year olds on his work times.

SUMMARY
Well dare i say it but the three year olds wouldnt be good enough to beat the likes of Dogs Dragon and Sweep The Event on any other planet than planet HRP. But here they have a huge chance of filling the first four places despite their inferior form. I am still going for Sweep The Event to beat Dogs Dragon for no other reason than i am a bit old fashioned.
