West Coast Girls Closes Furiously to Take Untappable

Untappable
$100.000 Two Year Old Fillies
1 Mile & 70 Yards – Dirt
Fairgrounds – 12/20/25

On the last day of Autumn turning into a long cold winter with the goal being to qualify for a race to be run when Spring is barely blossoming West Coast Girls gave her owner, Diablo Diablo, something to feed into their Kentucky Oaks dream furnace at the Fairgrounds yesterday. Right now, they must be feeling nice and toasty after their filly’s powerhouse win the Untappable. In only her third lifetime start she provided an eye-catching victory that made her one to watch as these two-year-olds crossover into their three-year-old season.

Winner: West Coast Girls (Diablo Diablo/I. Ortiz Jr.) Indian Summer/Action Girl (Action Man) Dropped back to last immediately after the break. She was content to let pacesetter Miss Perfect Devil blaze along on the front end almost 10 lengths ahead. With a furlong to go she still had only two horses beat. Finally swinging wide for a clear path, she hit her best stride and mowed down the nine horses ahead of her and was drawing away at the wire looking clearly the best.

Second: Call Me First (Crocker Ggs/P. Husbands) First Look/Call The Nanny (Call Your Doctor) Got away from the gate in the second flight and was placed leisurely during the body of the race towards the end of the midpack consistent with her rallying running style to date. She made a strong and steady run through the stretch and was able to find a path letting her come through the field to catch the fading pace setter and finish strongest of anyone with the exception of the winner.

DH Third: Maui Hawaii (Choppy Inc./E. Maldonado) Jinxed Authority/Maui Dollard (Million Dollar Baby) Used a good post-position draw to stalk the runaway pacesetter. Was never hurried and began to put in her bid moving into the homestretch. She was able to barely nip Miss Perfect Devil for third and hold off most of the field which was swarming the early leaders in the final dash. Good effort.

DH Third: Lucky Delite (The Sidley Stud/M. Franco) Lucky Brandy/Charleys Delite (Charley Farley) Ran what appears to have been the strategy for success in this race by sitting off the pace early. From her outside post twelve she was able to work out a decent trip to finish as a threat in the late stretch eventually catching Maui Hawaii for a dead heat for third.

West Coast Girls has now won two straight including this impressive stakes debut. She has won two of three races lifetime and now stands in twelfth position in the race to the KY Oaks starting gate.
