Three Sixes Lights Up the Board in The Martha Washington

The Martha Washington (KYO)- $300.000 Purse
OP- For Fillies Three Years Old
One Mile and One Sixteenth on the Dirt
January 31, 2026

Three Sixes was not given much of a chance by the betting public for the Martha Washington, as she went off as the longest shot on the board at close to 52/1. There was no clear favorite for the race, but the Pan Farms filly was not given much consideration. We can’t say that we thought any better of her, as she was not among our picks for the race. However, as we all know that means nothing, and the deep closer did what she has learned to do very well and came from the back to pick up the win by half a length. This filly is trained by Pan Farms, and it is his first win in the Martha Washington. That’s also true for jockey R Bejarano. Congratulations to them! The time of the win was 1:41.77, the fastest of the three editions of the race held at a mile and a sixteenth. Let’s take a look at it:

(1/4 Mile- :23.05)- Theresaplaceinfrance has a place out front with an uncontested lead by a length and a half. Behind that Nakamura Stables filly, we have a group of four that sees that Firewall, who runs in the second lane for Mb Stables, have a neck in front of her stablemate Zifi to the inside, as well as Jerry Garcia Racing’s She Is Into It on her outside. Running four wide here is Pineapple Puff, who’s the second Nakmaura Stables runner. In the middle of the pack, we have a group of three with very little separating them. From inside to outside, this trio consists of Wicked Angelina (The Sidley Stud), Face Plant (TwinTowersRacing), and Lady Lobo (Riggins Racing). There’s about two more to the next group of three, which sees our eventual winner from Pan Farms, Three Sixes, running between horses while officially being scored as six lengths off the lead. Woman On The Moon (Arindel) is on her inside while Rock Steady (Our Athletes). Behind them, Santorini (Riggins Racing) is all by herself.

(½ Mile- :46.82)- Down the backstretch, Theresaplaceinfrance is still all by herself out in front. The Mb stablemates are running second and third, as both Firewall and Zifi have put close to a length on fourth place She Is Into It, with Pineapple Puff also losing slight ground. Wicked Angelina, Face Plant, and Lady Lobo are all still content to run with one another in the middle of the field. There’s a break of about two to Three Sixes, who’s now seven off the pace while the number six, Woman On the Moon, still runs with her. Rock Steady is no longer running alongside them but remains in front of Santorini.

(Top of Stretch, 1.7F To Go)- There’s no change with the leader of the race, as Theresaplaceinfrance continues to lead and hoped to say au revoir to the field in the stretch. Firewall and Zifi have both not made a move on her, but they have also not lost any ground, stalking the whole way to this point. She Is Into It and Pineapple Puff are trying their best to hang tough with them but are not advancing. As this was going on, there would be a nice gap setting up for Wicked Angelina to potentially come on between Firewall and Zifi and she was looking like she might be able to take advantage of it. Lady Lobo swung about five wide on exit of the turn and was leaving Face Plant behind. At this time, a lot of attention would go to Three Sixes, as the 52/1 longshot was beginning to hit her best stride as she looked to do what she does best. She had not made up a ton of ground yet but had moved to an outside lane that would keep her clear of excessive traffic. Woman On The Moon was also looking good here and would look to make her charge on the rail. Further back, Santorini had passed Rock Steady but had a lot of work to do and other late runners to make up ground on.

(Finish- 1:41.77)- Into the final furlong, Theresaplaceinfrance was doing all she could, but one could not deny that there were many rivals closing in to grab the win. Firewall and Wicked Angelina would be her closest concerns now, while Woman On The Moon had to come off the rail to look for another lane. On the outside, Three Sixes was looking good, and while it seemed as though she could catch the leader at this rate, the bigger question with her would be whether or not she could get someone like Wicked Angelina, who was also running well. Approaching the wire, the screams on the few people in the stands that supported Three Sixes could be heard as she caught Firewall and Wicked Angelina in a timely manner and would get by them to go on and win the Martha Washington by half a length. Wicked Angelina was second by about the same margin over a close photo for show between four horses. In it, Woman On The Moon and Firewall get third and fourth, edging out Theresaplaceinfrance and Lady Lobo. The second half of the field will read: Zifi, Santorini, She Is Into It, Pineapple Puff, Rock Steady, and Face Plant.
