The Herecomesthebride Stakes (Grade III)
Purse $175.000 – For Fillies Three Years Old
One Mile – InTurf
Gulfstream Park – February 28, 2026
There won’t be any walking down the aisle in the 22nd Herecomesthebride Stakes — only an all-out charge to the finish to say “I do” to a graded stakes victory. Historically, homebreds have dominated this race, producing 16 winners over the past 21 editions. No owner has visited the winner’s circle more in this event than Mb Stables, with four wins. This Grade 3 contest is a full field of emerging turf fillies so let’s take a deep dive into these three-year-olds!
- Patronize – (D J C Racing Stables, P. Lopez) With 2 wins under her belt last year, she just missed graded stakes glory in the Natalma and Jessamine Stakes. Patronize rounded off her 2-year-old campaign in the Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf, where she had a legit chance to win down the stretch but had a little bit of traffic trouble. She found her stride at the 1/16 pole, unfortunately it was already too late by then. She only has one start in 2026, however it was on the dirt in the Gasparilla Stakes, where she finished last. Coming back to the turf, I would expect her to be one of the favorites.
- A Bod For Sin – (La Canada Racehorses, S X. Bridgmohan) This filly is in good form as she has been going through her allowance conditions with ease. In her last race, she was favored in the California Cup Oaks but wasn’t able to make headway on the leaders down the stretch. She eventually tried graded stakes company in her 2-year-old season last year but ran in a similar fashion. Her best numbers have come from being close to the pace, so I would expect the same tactics here. She will definitely need to take a step forward to turn the tables on these fillies.
- Grand Concourse – (Twin Towers Racing, M. Franco) After breaking her maiden sprinting on the dirt last year, Grand Concourse tried stretching out to two turns on the turf at Kentucky Downs. It wasn’t a total success, however she showed ability finishing 3rd by a length. After that race, she stepped up into graded stakes company but was a bit camera-shy. She finished 5th in her last start on the turf at Gulfstream Park on an off-track. Hopefully it was just a misfire because there looks to be some weather in the forecast.
- Ginger Gem – (The Sidley Stud, R. Bejarano) This Ontario homebred looks to be a sneaky play in here with only 3 starts under her belt. She broke her maiden first time out routing on the grass at Belterra Park, then cut back in distance in the Wait A While Stakes. She didn’t have much finish in that race but was still a respectable 4th place finish considering it was only her 2nd start. However, last time out Ginger fired a big race in the Blue Norther, winning by a half-length. With that race being on soft ground, she will have a huge advantage over the others if the ground comes up soft on Saturday.
- Mini Mulite – (Mb Stables, L. Dettori) A $255.010 purchase as a 2-year-old, Mini Mulite was the winner of the Grade 2 Jessamine Stakes at Keeneland. She followed up that effort with a 10th place finish in the Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. Since then, she’s been running with some new friends in allowance company, winning last time out at 1 1/18th on the grass. Her 3 lifetime wins have been on the lead, and I don’t think Mb has any plans on changing this race.
- Ocean Party – (Arkansas Elite, R. Santana Jr.) Coming off her maiden win, Ocean Party will have a lot to prove in this race. She took control of a 4-horse field at Turf Paradise and went wire-to-wire. This filly hasn’t been too flashy in recent workouts but definitely has the confirmation of a horse who wants 2 turns. It looks like she will try to take control of this race too, but she will need to put on some running shoes to wire this field.
- Rowena – (Williams9, J R. Velazquez) The highest earner in this field with $930.830 in purse money. She’s raced 5 times on the turf and has not finished off the board. Her biggest win was in the Kentucky Downs Juvenile Fillies, where she won by a head. Rowena backed up that effort with a 3rd in the Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at Del Mar. She’s coming into this race with a victory last time out in the Ginger Brew Stakes, where she wired the field. There’s no doubt Rowena is the most accomplished filly in the field, and if the weather stays clear, she will be my top pick.
- Z Girl – (Threshold, M J. Sanchez) Claimed for $20.000 back in June 2025, Z Girl has some decent turf form. First race off the claim, Threshold took a shot and ran her in the Oak Tree Juvenile Fillies Turf at Del Mar and ran a respectable 3rd. She just missed last time out against Rowena in the Ginger Brew Stakes, where she closed from last place. There will be plenty of pace for her to close into, but she needs to avoid being shuffled back too far back.
- Jump Into Action – (Diablo Diablo, J. Bravo) A speedy filly who looks to be the likely pace setter in this race. While her post wasn’t ideal, she won the Surfer Girl Stakes, being drawn the widest in post 11. Her most impressive win was last time out in an allowance at Santa Anita. She set the pace early and never looked back, stopping the clock in 1:33.35. If Jump Into Action can clear the field and cross over to the rail early, I wouldn’t be surprised if she wires the field.
- Solar Lady – (Maxmillion Farm, A. Jimenez) The second horse in the field with only 2 lifetime races. However, those 2 races have been around one turn. Her last race was against California Breds, where she sat off the pace and found room to spurt clear and win. Solar Lady now gets the chance to stretch out and give Maxmillion Farm a 3rd win in this race. Her workouts on the grass have been very flashy, so she looks to be up to the task on Saturday. If this filly can handle the distance, she definitely deserves a look.
- Risque Babe – (Red Fox Farms, T. Gaffalione) Ran first time out on the grass but didn’t do much running at all. She was then entered on the dirt going 7 ½ furlongs and blew out the field by 3 lengths. The following race was another strong effort in an allowance at Gulfstream Park, where she just missed by a head. Tyler Gaffalione gets back aboard as Risque Baby will try the turf once more and two turns for the first time.
