6 GP The Very One (GIII)
$150.000 1 3/8th Mile InTurf 4yo&Up F&M 124lbs +penalties
The bad news… we had another DH… the good news, Mb Stables owns them both so, he picks up two graded stakes wins in one. When the stewards looked at the photo for Saturday’s The Very One, they could not separate Superface Party, our top pick, and November Storm, one of our third selections, so the Big Barn walks away with the bulk of the $150.000 purse as both of these add some black-type to their resume’.
It was a length back to TwinTowersRacing’s Smokin Cherie, closing well to take the third spot, with a gap of three back to Mo Mentum Farm’s Love in fourth.
The final running time was 2:19.66 over the soft, yet non-existent, inner Turf, here in SoFla. Fifteen lengths covered the field of eleven and there were no scratches in this one. This was the second slowest time ever for this historic stakes.
